OK, let me get this straight. There is one of each character, and they stay at their set locations all day, correct? (Or are the ones in parades different, so they can still be met during parades?) Only chance to meet Mickey is at Town Square... right?

I haven't been in yeeeears and what I remember was characters just roaming, walking up and greeting people (even popping up behind you at times, much to the horror of my 7-year old self), and different Mickeys in different costumes around the park. I have a picture with astronaut Mickey.

But I gather now that the only way my 3-year old has a shot at seeing Mickey is by using one of our Fast Passes. Bummer. We're only at MK for one day, and that feels like a waste of time. Luckily, we're leaving on a DCL cruise the next day and will have plenty opportunities for character sightings, but it feels like bumping into unexpected characters was part of the magic as a child. Like it's really their home and you see them going about their daily lives. Oh well. I assume that putting them in set locations with lines is a good way of directing traffic.

You can see Mickey just fine without a FP in multiple locations all day long.

Check out Kenny the Pirate's website about meeting characters, he has the best info including best times to meet certain characters, which to use FPs for, which ones still meet during parades, etc. www.kennythepirate.com

There is only 1 Mickey, 1 Minnie, 1 Cinderella, etc. The only way to meet Mickey is at Town Square Theatre in MK. There is a fastpass+ option, however there is also a stand by line. You can also meet Mickey at DHS in the Animation Academy, he is in his sorcerer outfit there. Also at Epcot in Future World, I believe he is in his classic outfit there.

You can also meet Mickey and Minnie at the Adventurers Outpost at Animal Kingdom in a safari outfit.

At EPCOT, his outfit is the classic black coat with tails. At MK he is dressed as magician.

Mickey is MAGIC, so he is able to meet his guests in all 4 parks plus some Character Meals while appearing in parades. (Yes, he meets in his classic outfit at Epcot, Sorcerer Mickey at DHS, and in Safari gear at AK.) Agree with LadyRayado, Kenny the Pirate is a good source for info on meeting characters.

This year, when I do my "4 Parks" day, I plan to have my picture taken with Mickey at each park! :wizard:

Mickey at Town Square is different. If you go first thing in the morning, or before a parade, the wait's not too bad. We went on the 15th for the first time ever. He played with my kids and talked to them. The ones at AK or DHS were nothing like that.

You must not have gone in a very long time if that's how you remember it. ;) Seriously though, they had to stop doing it that way because it was too chaotic - the poor characters would just get mobbed and good luck getting a picture without someone else's kids in it.

Oh yes! Mickey at MK "talks" and interacts with his guests. None of the other Mickeys do that. (assuming the mechanics are working that day).

I took my DS to meet him once at park opening, we walked right in. We've also gone right after MSEP with a 5 minute wait. I don't think I'd ever use a FP unless you were only going to be at MK with limited hours.

Trust me...it's not hard to meet Mickey. I wouldn't worry about it. You don't NEED a FP. Plenty of opportunity in each park. But the one in MK is way cool..he talks!

Just a suggestion- if you want to meet Mickey in Town Square (a very cool meet!), the best time to do it is at night, during the electrical light parade. My family walked right up to him when we did that!
