Meet and greets are no longer LL

I read that with the new LL program, meet and greets have been removed. My child’s greatest use of DAS in the pass has been these meet and greets at all four parks. Does that mean he needs to be in the standby line? Might there be a return time? Just planning my next trip and trying to figure everything out. Thanks for any insights.

I haven’t seen anything one way or the other as to if they will offer Lightning Lane for meet and greets, so curious where you saw this information?

I haven't seen that they're excluded, but I don't see them on the list of attractions either, so who knows.
I agree.
The list of attractions so far might not be complete or might include only the ones that can be booked ahead of time. Since the ones that currently have Genie+ already have LL entrances, it would make sense to include them.
Until they actually go live with it, I don't think we will know.

I don’t know which sites I can link to or mention here. But this is the title of the article I read. If you search it you should find it. Sure hope it isn’t accurate. I guess you are correct. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Disney's New Lightning Lane Multi Pass: Which Genie+ Attractions Are Being Removed

This would be brand new information if true. I can confirm with 100% certainty that, as of last weekend at WDW, you could still use DAS and G+ for meet and greets. Witnessed both with my own two eyes.

Scott Gustin, who works directly with Disney on these news releases has been taking questions and answering back has confirmed that the meet and greets are all removed from the LL availability.

He posted this Something important to note: When these changes take effect on July 24 at WDW, character meet and greets are no longer listed as Lightning Lane experiences (always subject to change).

Enjoy the brand new Mickey & Friends Lightning Lane sign while you can.

I think this will turn out that they are eligible, just not eligible for advance booking.

I am thinking they will add them in... they paid for the signs to be made. We all know IT takes for ever in disney to update.
I agree, but not for booking ahead. They are going to want the extra capacity for day-of options, and they have the signs. The Epcot Mickey sign was literally just put in! They wouldn’t have added it to genie+ if they knew it wasn’t going to be on this new system. I think it could relate to the fact that characters might be somewhat subject to change based on work schedules/availability, so maybe they can’t promise it 14 days ahead. Or, as someone else said, since they are not experiences available from open to close, maybe harder to integrate into the pre-booking system. But I think they will be available as day-of options. Too many kids and families like to use them, those standby lines get long, they have the signs, and it eases availability elsewhere.

I really hope they get added back in to the LL system because that will create a lot of capacity that is not currently listed for the new system coming out. We don't really do meet and greets anymore, but it will help selection of LLs if all the families of little kids are choosing those over some of the other attractions.

I agree. They never know when they might have a glitch on a character's "friend" and have to cancel or shift things around, maybe changing hours. Fairytale Hall might have to change a Princess, I've been to Town Square when they've had to close it early as I assume a "friend" of Mickey was not available later hours. Day of they will certainly know how their staffing is working out and could offer day of times. But they open a can of worms offering it in advance and not fulfilling.

They were available in advance with FP+.

They were available in advance with FP+.
They may have learned some things from doing it with Fastpass + that made them decide not to include it with the new program.
Some, like Anna & Elsa, were not included with Genie+

I'm on MDE and looking at Standby times and LL options for MK ...
... and LL includes Ariel, Fairytale Hall, Mickey Town Square .... so some Meet & Greet available to book day of.
