Hi dis friends!! I've been a lurker for a very short time - and finally had the guts to actually start posting. . and I liked it -VERY MUCH!! :thumbsup2

After reading a bunch of PJ/WJ/TR's, I finally decided to make one for myself.

Some dismembers probably know me by as the one from San Francisco who can't decide if she wants a home wedding or @ WDW. . . and to update. . . :rotfl: I'm still undecided, but I think the balance is leaning toward WDW :woohoo:

Like most of us here, I've always dreamed of a fairy tale wedding and a prince charming, and I would do anything to be wed at Disney. H2B wasn't so fond of having a WDW DFTW . . . but as I always tell him . . . "I can be very convincing!!"

To start off - let me introduce ourselves . . .

About us. . .
Him::
Neill aka NeO (26) Current Nursing Student working fulltime @ a SNF.

From my point of view: He's my other other. My living half. . "the I'd so be lost without him" guy. Prince Charming? Sometimes. But one fact is for sure . . I'm ready to live the HAPPILY EVER AFTER with him. I know, very cheesy - but it's the truth. (We can be cheesy here :yay: That's why I love DIS!!)

Her::

Michelle aka meeSha (21) Working 3 jobs (2 full time & 1 on call). Regional Lead Pharmacy Technician at KP, a Hotel Auditor & Pharmacy Teacher. :teacher: Make that 4 Jobs - I'm a mommy too! I've been accepted to Pharmacy Schools, but decided that this is not the semester for me. I'm waiting until he graduates and then it will be my turn :goodvibes

I'm just me. Trying to live life and take life’s punches as they hit me. I'm in a situation where I barely have time to sleep. . . sacrifices for a better future. ** Saving for BIG wedding!! ** I'm the one who wears the pants. . he (the belt) always keeps me on check though. On the days I am off. You can find me on my lovesac knocked out.

The Story of US

How we met::
We met through a mutual friend. I needed to pickup my bike (Ninja 250) in the east bay and was too chicken to ride it across the Bay Bridge so I needed a lift. My friend scouted for people who can help. Low and behold, NeO just so happen to be in the city side chillin w/ his cousin. He was up to help out. My friend and I met at NeO's cousin's house. . . and when I got out the car, he yelled. . . well, my Myspace Screen Name (our inside joke). I liked his truck - he liked my bike (or so I think ;) ). From that point on, I guess you can say "We ride" . . . Not a fairy tale beginning, but was definitely my dream come true.

The night after is a story to tell and I'm very happy that we found each other

We knew that we were going to eventually be together - and instead of the official " will you be my girlfriend date" he came up with the idea that if there's no beginning, there will be no end. Very romantic, but knowing me, I wanted an anniversary. . you know, set it stone! *look forward to anniversary gifts too**

I wanted to come up with a fun and unique anniversary . . . and I brought up July 7. Why July 7th? July 7 aka 7/07 symbolizes where he grew up, Vallejo (Area Code 707). I just thought of it, and he played along. =) We were somewhat set on the date, but I didn't expect when he would *pop* the question - and @ 1:43am . . . . he asked me to be his girlfriend, at the parking lot of albertsons / jolibee. I know, hella ghetto - but that's ghetto love 101.

Here's a pic of us together for my 21st Vegas BDAY

DONT HAVE ANY DISNEY PICS . . THEY'RE ALL AT HOME! I'LL POST SOON!!

NeO's really close to his family, :grouphug: which is one of the things I admire about them the most. I slowly met each family member and have been so thankful to meet everyone since.

The Promise Ring
On our first month Anniversary, he presented me with his 'cinderella' ring. He's had a ring he purchased in high school, before he left for the Corp. It signified his 'perfect princess' In stead of a hunt of who can fit the glass slipper, he was in the search of who can fit the ring. He asked me to be his one and only. . . and slowly slipped the ring on my left ring finger. I was the first one to try it and it fits! I have really small fingers (size 4 - I'm really petite 4'11) :upsidedow I was in shock . . . but hey - I've been wearing the ring since.

We bought shared phone lines on 12/06; Bought our first car on 01/06 and bought our house on 02/22/2006; and got suckered in to being DVC members in 06/2007:cutie:

We're technically not engaged 'yet' since he hasn't *popped THE question* but we consider ourselves engaged or practically married . . . I actually am very picky to find the right ring - nothing just doesnt' seem to appeal me. And I'm really happy that he didn't just pick a ring - he wants my thoughts too :lmao: until I find that ring. . .

Although I don't have an official 'engagement' ring - I've been planning on our wedding already. I just want to be prepared. and have it EXACTLY how I want it to be.

Our first visit to Disney was a road trip from San Francisco to Disneyland. . . and boy did I have fun!!! But sadly, DF & DD got sick  after watching Fantasmic. . . it was in January - and they didn't think it would be THAT cold
Here's a picture of our FAMILY - That's Me, Kailani (DD) and Neo in his Barong Tagalog - A traditional Filipino Attire

Here's a picture of our 2nd Road trip to Scal to Disneyland . . . A stop by @ Hollywood http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sctm/v99/57/100/784868202/n784868202_145995_6811.jpg

I've learned so much from reading all the threads and I'm so thankful from the bottom of my heart that I was welcomed w/ lots of love cheer and advise here at DIS . . . and as we all say it - let the PLANNING (aka CHAOS) BEGIN!!!

More about us will be up soon. . . .

Your daugther is adorable!

I'm looking forward to reading along as your plans develop :)

I just want to pinch your cheeks - all of you! You're such a cute family!

You all look so happy together! I can't wait to hear more about your planning process and which type of wedding you choose! :)

Thanks Tabetha & Starseeker1221!!! I have so many ideas in my head and I just might schpeeel some tonight!!

I'm shooting for SEPTEMBER 09 2009

I'm not chinese, but all my co-workers (pharmacists) are. My original intent was to get married in 08/08/08 - but I was looking at all the venues here in San Francisco - and all were PACKED :scared1: San Francisco has a very large Chinese Community. and the #8 is good luck to them.

Then, my supervisor asked me if I would consider 09/09/09 - and I said, well there's nothing really important but ALAS! :woohoo: the # 9 In Chinese symbolizes LONGEVITY. - PERFECT!!!

So 09/09/09 it is!!!

It works out too because 09/09/09 falls on a Wednesday - Lower prices due to weekend AND it's low season!!!!

I spoke called the DFTW line and I totally got suckered in! I mean, all this time, I thought disney would charge you WHAZZOO for a wedding, but it's actually not that bad!! An average small, mediocre wedding here in San Francisco costs $40,000 - Imagine all the things I can do at WDW with that amount!

I spoke w/ DF about WDW - and he says . . . "but what about the family?!?" and I said. . . "Well it's our wedding -and as much as I want it here with them, this is what I dream of. . . plus we're gonna get married in church here anyways. Who ever wants to go - will go."

He had to think about it for a little bit . . . and he went off to work. Apparently his supervisor is a DVC Member also - and they started talking about it. Neither one of us has actually seen a Disney Wedding - but his supervisor has!!!!! She gave him all the details and how magical it was and how lovely it is and all the pictures , and all the fun, and all the characters - - - - - well, all in all - after all the thinking  its a YES!!!!!

We're officially going to have it at WDW!!

You guys can't believe how happy I am!!!

We come from a very tight religious family, and a CHURCH wedding is important. I always wanted my church wedding to be BIG - so FIL's agreed to have a civil * on paper * wedding for the meantime, and when the time is right - we'll have a CHURCH wedding.

This totally works out for me. Instead of having just a civil wedding @ city hall - we'll have it at WDW!!! :cheer2:

We will then have our Disneymoon @ Paris - and of course visit DLRP for the first time!!!

In a couple of years, I will have my CHURCH wedding - Something I've been looking forward to since I was a little girl too. I know I want my ceremony @ Grace Cathedral In San Francisco - it's so beautiful. . and I'll save that for another WJ.

SO IT'S SET. 09/09/09 @ WDW . . . Time to start planning!!! :dance3:

-meesha :cloud9:

still can't add pics - my links are weird.. I'll edit this again when I'm at home =)

I've came to a decision that I will not be purchasing my wedding gown from here (US). Neither will I have it custom made by a US designer :scared1:(Are you crazy?!? That's alot of $$ to dish out)

I am, however, planning to go to my cousin's wedding in the Philippines *my home country*. I want it made exactly the way I dream for it to be :wizard: I have already contacted designers the Movie Superstars / Actors in the Philippines use - and I'm very delighted. I'm somewhat sticking to my filipino roots . . . pinays represent!!

Although they know that I'm going to have a Disney Wedding - they didn't mark up my prices at all. . . In fact, they were honored. . . They begged me to send pictures in front of MK =)

I'm getting all this customized for me:

or this . . .

1320200092_5c8b7a5f24_o.jpg

The quality of that picture isn't the best - but here's the website of the filipino designer I'm going to use . . . Edward Teng Wedding Gowns

  • Wedding Gown w/ intricate bead/ lace/crystal detailing (of course)
  • Wedding Veil also with the same details - although I'm not sure if I'm gonna use a veil
  • Custom Ballet Slippers after I start to feel that heels won't just cut it anymore.
  • Custom Cord *Used in traditional Filipino Catholic Weddings*
  • Custom Ring Bearer Pillow
  • Custom Coin Bearer Pillow
  • Custom Purse for the bride
  • & . . . Custom Underwear =)

Great isn't it?!? :yay: And the best thing is. . . they can do all this for $500-$800!!!!! * I just love the banana dance* I might even be able to work a deal for another bridal dress for my Church wedding OR a reception gown - and have great discounts for BM dresses.

I love the Philippines - and ohh . . I'm going to try to shop for my favors there too!!! and my DREAM tiara (like the beauty queens) - but that will be saved for another post

xoxo Kapeeshee xoxo

I love the story of the cinderella ring. He must be a romantic guy. I was hoping for 8-8-08 as well because 8 means infinity, but it didn't work out for me either. Can't wait to hear more details. good luck

So how are you going to decide who to invite to the WDW ceremony and what not? I really want to have a wedding there too, but right now it's going to be crazy because of our guest list. Me and my fiance are both Filipinos, so just like you, that means huge families. Right now were at 220 with only 10 of them not blood related to one of us in one way or another.

Any suggestions out there to make this work?

Well anyways, good luck with all your planning. And good choice turning to the PI to get things for the wedding. I'm probably going to get favors and invitations there.

Hi Monona! Thanks & Welcome!!!

It's really hard to be a filipino with a HUGE family - our guest list was @250 - all blood relatives - w/ friends we were close to 500 - and our Jaws DROPPED when we totalled our excel sheet.

To our parents, all that mattered is that we get married - a church wedding can always follow. . which worked out well for us!! :thumbsup2

So we're going to have a 'civil' wedding @ WDW (somewhat intimate) - then save up again then have a church wedding when I can probably invite everyone and anyone in the world.

As far as who I will be inviting for WDW, I'm probably only going to invite people who are 'worth it' . . . people who have been there through the highs and lows of our relationship and have STUCK around. Not to be mean or anything, but I don't think I'mma have people there just to have them there - that's about $300-$400 / person total . . I have mortgage and student loans to pay off!! so putting that in rational, We so far have a list of 40 mainly consisting of 1st cousins / aunts & Uncles and CLOSET friends. It's gonna be like a VIP event sort of thing. All our family is from the bay area w/ a few exceptions - so most will be travelling . . and knowing filipinos, they'd rather stay home than dish out $400 in tickets - for a wedding. :headache:

I'm just living my dream . . . this is what I ultimately wanted, and at this point - no one can take that away from me. It's a once in a lifetime thing - and I would only want people who mean a lot to me around me - not people who are there just to eat and party. They can have that when we have our home wedding. . . I plan on having that buffet style :lmao:

It's not like I have a rock heart - I do want everyone there to think hey - when did you last see a filipino do this - but in reality really - I want it to be intimate - I don't want it to be as an attraction. . PRACTICALITY is the key.

If you don't intend on getting married again I would look into having a home reception and maybe have your WDW pics / ceremony as one of the main attractions. Or what a lot of brides here have . . a home DISNEY style wedding then a DISNEYmoon. It's worked out for a lot of people!

I look forward to reading your plans too!! If you ever need anything - you know where to catch me!

Hope this helps!

Thanks Disneybride816! Romantic - VERY RARE - he's served in the marine corp for 8 years - so he has this manly tough personality . . but he comes around :flower3: - he always suprises me, coz it's always unexpected.
8.8.08 would have been perfect, but that would have meant that I would have a smaller wedding

Thank you for reading!

meeSha:cloud9:

I'm so glad you started a PJ! Everything sounds AWESOME!! And like someone else said, your little family is BEAUUUTIFUL!!

I love the idea of a big church wedding and then a smaller, intimate Disney wedding. I kinda wish I had thought about that! OH well. DISNEYmoon it is!!!

Can't wait to hear how it all comes together!!!

What an awesome story! Your daughter is so cute. Was she excited when you told her that mommy is getting married in Disney world?

Thanks for following the 'real thread Shasess!!!

DD was!! She started planning and told me my "MUST HAVES" . . .

  • I must have fireworks
  • I must have Mickey & Minnie
  • I must have a ballroom gown dress
  • I must have the Cinderella Coach
  • and DADDY MUST BE ABLE TO FIT BACK INTO HIS DRESS BLUES!! LoL . . . DF has to loose A LOT of weight to do that :rotfl2:

I've been browsing wedding cakes like CRAZY! :surfweb: :scared:

I finally fell in love w/ this . . . I love the castle in the middle rather than the traditional cake topper. . . The ribbon would be different and instead of the sparkly pin, I'd maybe put flowers. . . but I love love love the design!
