Meeko's Walt Disney World Trip 2001
Finally started on my trip report from my July trip. I'm not an expert photographer by any stretch of the imagination, but I thought I'd include some of the pictures I took while I was there on my reports, just to make them that much more exciting. Without any further ado, my first trip report.
Arrived at Walt Disney World at noon. Checked into my hotel, Disney's Port Orleans Riverside, and proceeded with my usual rituals of arriving at Disney World. After checking in, I read over all the maps to see how much things have changed and see some of the entertainment times. Next, proceed directly to the nearest gift shop (it's just not Disney unless you get into a gift shop), which happened to be Fulton's General Store.
After lunch at the Colonel's Cotton Mill, I went to my room, which this time was in the Acadian House (the only mansion at Riverside I hadn't stayed at), dropped my stuff off and proceeded to the pool. Relaxed there for a bit. Afterwards it was off to Downtown Disney
Took the River Cruise from Riverside to the Marketplace. Thought that was neat. Never done it the whole way (usually get on at the Resort now known as "The French Quarter"). Lots of information, trivia, and, of course, plenty to look at. I highly recommend this if you're staying at Port. Got off the boat and found that it was beginning to lightly sprinkle. Headed right to The World of Disney (maybe by the time I get done looking through it, it will stop raining). Looked around. It was not crowded at all! I'm use to seeing it at Christmas where you wait in a line for ages from Orlando locals buying Christmas gift. Even for summer it wasn't crowded at all. After that, the rain let up a bit and I proceeded to Studio M. I don't usually go to Studio M, but this time I had a mission: to program my first Walt Disney World Forever CD. I had already chose the songs I wanted, thanks to the a post of mine on the Theme Park boards (thanks, everyone), so I just selected the songs. Got a couple from Main Street, Great Movie Ride, Festival of the Lion King, Sorcery in the Sky, SpectroMagic, and a couple of Pocahontas songs from Spirit of Pocahontas, Fantasmic, and the Carousel. It was actually fairly quick and painless, not to mention fun. Took my ticket to the counter and they said it would be ready in 20 minutes. Took this chance to explore the Marketplace. Went to Captains Tower (a sentimental favorite), Disney Days of Christmas, Art of Disney, and 2 R's. Came back to Studio M and my CD was all ready. From there, I walked through Pleasure Island and on to the West Side.
It was getting close to dinner, so I made my way over to House of Blues. Pretty fun. Next went to some of the shops around it. Went to Starabilia's, Mickey's Groove, DisneyQuest Emporium (didn't have any time to spend inside, so I thought I'd at least see the shop), Magnetron, and the Virgin Megastore. After looking around a little bit, I headed back to the resort. The next three days would be very long, tiring, but fun, days.
