Meeko's Walt Disney World Christmas 2002

After a morning at day visiting Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and EPCOT, it was already time to head home.

Friday

Since the previous day was so beautiful, it was surprising to that the weather had changed drastically overnight. Now instead of sunny and pleasant, it had suddenly become rainy and miserable. Still, this didn’t stop me from enjoying the last morning of my trip. After spending more than 14 hours hoping to three theme parks the previous day, today I slept in and took things much easier.

Since I had stayed there a few months back in the summer, I was anxious to see how the resort looked decorated for Christmas. It was absolutely spectacular, and very reminiscing of the Wilderness Lodge, another of my favorite resorts at Christmastime. Like Wilderness Lodge, there was a giant Christmas tree in the lobby. I wasn’t sure how festive an African-themed resort would be for December, but I liked it. First stop this morning would be Boma’s. I had enjoyed it for dinner so, and it was also great for breakfast. This is fast becoming one of my favorite places to eat at Walt Disney World. After breakfast, I took a look at the gingerbread village outside the restaurant. Very cute.

I still had some time before I had to leave, so I decided to look around the resort. Since it was still raining, I had to skip going out to the Arusha Rock viewing area. Instead, I went to the observation area above the lobby which had a cover over it. The animals were out and still active despite the weather. It wasn’t quite the same as having a Savannah view or being able to go out on the outlook, but still, it was nice to see the animals at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Next, it was out to the gift shop to make a few mast minute purchases and a little more exploring around the resort. I even managed to find a find a few displays of African art that I had not managed to find during the summer. It had been a nice visit to Walt Disney World, but at that it had to come to an end. The weather had let up just enough that I could check out and take my bags to the car without any hassle. It had been a great trip and a lot of fun too.

Thanks to everyone who has, read, responded, and been patient enough while I left this trip report unfinished for more than a year! I hope you enjoyed the report and the photos.
