6am wake-up call! Stitch is on the line until Mickey interrupts him. Ever since Stitch escaped into the Magic Kingdom, Mickey explains, things have been a little exciting around here. No time to stay in bed; it was time to get up and get ready for Extra Magic Hour morning at Magic Kingdom. Time to find out just how much havoc the little alien has caused. Before leaving for a quick breakfast, I drew out the next three words for todays photo scavenger hunt:
#1: Garden: Cant seem to think of too many gardens at MK besides the one by the Castle. Seems like that will be where to look.
#2: Statue: Theres plenty of these there. Should be easy.
#3: Villain: Villains seem to be a little more rare to find these days in character form, but Im sure theres something Villain-themed I could take a picture of.
Now that I knew what I was looking for, it was off for breakfast at Everything Pop and off to the bus stop to Magic Kingdom. Since the park is the farthest away from Pop Century it was a longer wait and ride over, but I got to the park just in time for the start of Extra Magic Hour. Cinderella Castle looked absolutely beautiful all decorated for the Happiest Celebration on Earth. Therell be plenty of time to gawk at it later while waiting for Cinderellabration. Right now it was time to hit some rides before the crowds built up. First stop: Peter Pans Flight. This is my favorite attraction in the entire Magic Kingdom, and the moonlit flight through London was just as beautiful as ever. Having actually flown to London (on an airplane of course, not on a pirate ship), I have to say it looks so much prettier here than in real life. Besides, Nana is one of my all-time favorites and flying past her always makes me smile.
After Peter Pan, it was on to the newly-refurbished Its A Small World. The new decorations in the queue were a nice touch. Nice to see the famous Small World clock tower makes its Florida premiere. I didnt really notice any big changes on the ride, but it looked great. Its been a few years since I had been on it last, and I had forgotten how much there is to see in it. The boat pulled into the load-unload area just as the clock tower began to chime and a bunch of toy soldiers and other figures popped out proclaiming the time. Next up was Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin. Great ride. My score wasnt spectacular, but oh well.
Next up, I wanted to check the wait times for Stitchs Great Escape. Lines were a little long, so I grabbed a FastPass for latter. On my way out of Tomorrowland, I thought that Id check out the new meet-and-greet inside the old Timekeeper building. Still havent met any characters this trip, so maybe this would be a good time (and its air conditioned to boot!) Stitch was first and very playful. He even messed up my hair and made me get on my knees so I wouldnt be taller than him! Such a rascal. Buzz was next. Its been almost ten years since Toy Story came out and this was the first time Id ever met him in the parks! He was pretty cool though. Got photos and autographs of each, and the best part was that there was practically no line to speak of. Nice location. It was time to leave Tomorrowland and head back to the Castle for Cinderellabration. On my way there, I took a brief stop at the garden by the Castle to get my first photo for the days scavenger hunt:
#1: Garden: The Hub, Magic Kingdom
About 15 minutes before the show, I got a great spot close to the stage. Gave me some time to check out the Castle and prepare for the show. I wanted to be sure to get lots of pictures. The show seemed like a nice special addition for the celebration. Some of the speeches that Cinderella gave were a bit on the cheesy side, but the music and pageantry were classic. Plus it was pretty cool to see characters like the King and Grand Duke from Cinderella included in the show along with the Princesses and Princes. The costuming was amazing. Defiantly not dresses youre use to seeing Cinderella et al wearing in the parks. Very elegant. The only puzzling thing about it was that Jasmine and Aladdin were both missing in action during the show. I thought that they were both suppose to be in it. I guess that they couldnt make it in from Agrabah. Oh, well. At least Belle and her Prince were there. I would have been very disappointed if my favorite Disney couple were a no-show. All in all, I had a great time, and I ended up geting close to 40 pictures! It's really that beautiful.
The rest of my visit to Magic Kingdom and my evening at Animal Kingdom Lodge will be featured in my next report.
