I cant believe my trip was already over. It went by so fast. I still have one morning left at the resort though, and I figure Ill do one more photo scavenger hunt to get some more pictures from around the day. I pick out my last three words to look for:
#1: Fast Pass Machine: Oops. Not going to find that at Pop Century. Umm lets have a do-over, shall we?
#1: Shoes: Much better. Just vague enough where it shouldnt be too hard to find here.
#2: Walt Disney: Hes the man that started it all with a mouse. Hes got to be around here somewhere.
#3: Bridge: Theres only on bridge here that I know of. Ill be sure to check it out.
With this, I head off to explore the resort one last time. Its back to the 50s first. Took some photos and found my first photo for my scavenger hunt:
#1: Shoes: Bowling Pin Pool, Pop Century Resort
This giant rack of bowling shoes is actually the laundry room next to the Bowling Pin Pool. Very clever. After leaving the 50s, I went back to Everything Pop for a quick breakfast. I had some sort of banana bread which was ok and some fruit. Not the best meal of the trip, but what do you want from a quick breakfast? After that, I headed over to check the gift shop one last time. While Im at it, I check out what pins the CMs have on their trading lanyards. Noting particularly interesting. Looks like Im not actually going to pin trade this trip after all. Before leaving the lobby area, I check out some of the displays throughout the area. Along the wall across from the front desk, theres a bunch of glass cases that hold pop culture icons from Howdy Doody dolls to Game Boys and everything in between. Defiantly a trip down memory lane. Along the way, I managed to find #2 for the days scavenger hunt:
#2: Walt Disney: Classics Hall, Pop Century Resort
Yes, even Walt is there making his speech at the opening of Disneyland 50 years ago. One more pressed penny and its off to take one more stroll around the resort hitting the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Ive really Pop Century even more than I thought I would. Yes, theres even the Disney feeling at the Value Resorts as well. On the way back, I get photo #3:
#3: Bridge: Generation Gap Bridge, Pop Century Resort
Got to love punny names, right? This bridge will someday lead to the currently half-built second phase of Pop Century which will highlight the 1900s through 40s. Ive heard that a giant Monopoly Board and a larger-than-life Tonka Truck are planned for the resort, but Im having a hard time picturing what they would have for the 1900s. A giant icon of a high-button shoe? I guess I dont know very much about the pop culture of the early 20th century. Well see just what those icons will be once they get it open. It could be a while though. It didnt look like any work hadnt been done on the phase in a while. After finishing my walk around the resort, it time to go already. It was a nice trip, but unfortunately, it was now over. I guess now would be a good time to see if I accomplished everything I wanted to. Lets see the photo scavenger hunt went well. I got to see all the new attractions for the Happiest Celebration on Earth as well. I had plenty of time to explore Pop Century for the first time. I got to meet three characters that I had never met before (Buzz Lightyear, Prince John, and Figment). The only thing that didnt pan out was pin trading. Well, based on my first experience with it, Im not sure Ill be giving it a second try. Oh, well. All things considered, I enjoyed the trip. I hope you enjoyed sharing it with me through this trip reports.
