I'm a little confused about how to do their reservations...I want to buy tickets through the military because they're cheaper, but my DH thinks that we have to pay when we make a reservation. Do I choose a specific date/time when I buy the tickets or do I buy the tickets then call to make a reservation? :confused3 I just feel so stupid for not understanding this!!

Answer: I called today and I can buy the tickets through ITT and then call in March for an April reservation. Also, children 2 and under are free if they sit on a parent's lap and eat off of their plate, if anyone else wanted to know that. :teacher:

Oh, good question, but I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you. Hopefully someone will be able to answer soon. :sunny:

So far though, it looks like you've stumped us. ;) :rotfl: ;)

:) I guess I'll make some phone calls Monday and post back in case anyone else wants to know!

bumped in case anyone else wants to know what I found out. :)

Thanks! I always loved medieval times but I don't know if my DD would like it (although I would love to dress her up as a princess and have her take a pic with our prince). If I can get discount tickets thru my ITT I might just have to try it out. :thumbsup2

I don't think it's Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament anymore. I think they changed it to Pirates Adventure Dinner. Same concept but no more horses kicking up dirt. I remember having the worst asthma after that dinner show.

I'll have to look at this more carefully when I have more time, but the way I understood it was they were building the Pirates one, not changing Medieval Times. :confused3 I'll have to see what I can find out.

Edit to add: I followed the link you provided and read a press release (it was adobe so I can't link it). It said that Pirates "will occupy the site of the former Wild Bill's dinner show" when it's completed. It sounds like it will be really cool, I think my boys would love it pirate: There's a good excuse to plan another DL trip in the next couple years. ;)

Medieval Times is still there. The Pirates thing is where Wild Bills used to be.

We usually make a reservation and then pay at the window when we arrive. There are always coupons in the guidebooks and magazines at the hotels so we look for those to take with us. We only prepaid once and then found $6 off per person coupons when we got to our hotel (no refunds if you prepaid!)...won't do that again!

This year we took 14 people with us and everyone had a blast! :Pinkbounc

oops! Sorry 'bout that. I always get Wild Bills & Medieval Times mixed up...they are in the same area.

We went in November and prepaid for the Royalty tickets. We enjoyed the show and would go back again but would not bother paying the extra for Royalty seats which are the first row around the arena.

We were tucked first row in a corner which wasn't what I would consider the best seating. Personally I think row 2 center would have been great but as you enter the building they give you a seating number and color (no choice) and that is where you sit and which knight you cheer on.

I would arrive about 40 minutes early if it's your first time . When they start the admitting procedure they tell everyone who has royalty tickets to go to a different area where they are color coded and the rest of the people go to a different area where they are given their colors and then everyone is admitted to a central hall where you wait for the next show, there are places to sit and gift shops and also drinks you can buy, you can also pay extra for someone to be knighted, I think it was like 25-30 bucks extra, probably not worth it but if money is no problem go for it, we did it for my dd and she thought it was cool. You can also look through the glass at the horses in their box stalls which a lot of children liked.

We did not notice any dust and we were right up front so maybe they are using a different type of dirt LOL
There really is not a bad seat and everyone gets the same food. If you don't want to be standing in line or waiting around the hall too long, as long as you have your ticket a person could just arrive a little later, the whole gift shop thing would only take a few minutes to browse thru and the meal is quite large so you don't need to fill up on drinks before you enter plus if you have had a lot to drink getting up to use the washroom might be inconvenient once you are all seated as if you happen to be in the middle of a row others will have to get up to let you out.

Hope this was helpful.

P.S.
I think the 25-30 bucks to get knighted included the price of a princess hat (a tall pointed silk hat with a streamer of net hanging from it) my daughter got to choose her hat from different colors and of course picked fuschia pink. It was very pretty and my dd used it on the top of her own little Christmas tree in her bedroom for Christmas instead of her angel this year which really gave it a girly/princess theme. It now resides on top of donkey's head (shrek-universal studios) on display on her bed so I guess we received good use out of it LOL

Medieval Times was a very easy drive from DL, quick and easy to navigate in our rental car. We are definitely going to go to the Pirates Dinner when we go back in May although I did read somewhere that their seating was very cramped, if anyone has been to the Pirates Dinner please post a revue.

Thanks so much for the info, Albianne! One more question, I'm not sure that my toddler will stay on my lap through this, is there any way to bring a stroller in or will we really have to hold him through it?

You know it's funny I don't remember seeing any strollers, the building itself looks like an old skating arena so the seats are staggered upwards so you have to navigate stairs. We entered at the top level and then walked down the steps to the front. I'm just guessing but maybe they seat people with strollers on the top level with wheelchairs or anyone who can't navigate the steps. Where we were sitting it would have been a bit cramped to have a child on your knee and impossible to have a stroller beside you. The view would still be great from the top level. The menu was set and everybody had the same stuff so I'm not sure it would be small child meal friendly, so you might want to bring your own food or ask ahead if they have any kids type meals.

I can't remember the whole meal but I know we had soup that you drank out of a bowl with a handle, a roast potato that none of us ate because it was quite hard (not really cooked) a half a chicken that you ate :wave2: with your fingers (no cutlery) and a small pastry like a cinnamon twist and possibly one other thing but I can't remember what. They also served beer or pop for free and I think they came around twice. :wave2:
