Medical Syringe in the parks?

Quick question; my Father in law has to have meds and syringes for diabetes. I assume there is no issue bringing this into the parks and through security? Right? Will he need a doctors note or something? We take a cooler backpack and plan to take a tiny "cooler" to put inside that with the meds and some frozen ice packs. Hopefully that will be adequate.

We take in syringes, insets, and other diabetic supplies all the time. The security people won't even bat an eye, no need for a doctor's note. No problem! We use the FRIO packs as well, it keeps her insulin at room temperature throughout the day, as long as air can flow around it for evaporation purposes.

First aid has some storage too. If they don't have refrigerator space, they will hold your cooler bag so you don't have to lug it around the park. We use to do this with my son's cool packs for his cooling vest.

Another thing we did was to bring freezer bags to store ice and if we needed to keep the cooler with us, we'd stop at first aid or ask for a cup of ice at counter service to replenish.

Another vote for the Frio cooling packs . . . use mine all the time; just resoak when it is getting thin/dry.

Along the same lines, do they have sharps disposal in the parks, or should I plan to take mine with me back to the resort for the mousekeeping sharps container?

I believe they have sharps disposal in most of the restrooms. That might be a good question to ask on the DISabilities board.

Not 100% positive, but I could swear I had seen a sharps disposal box in several of the bathrooms in the parks. I would suggest calling Disney if you want to be 100% sure.

There are sharps containers in the bathrooms. Many times they are full, so you might want to bring something with you to store them until you see an empty sharps container or are back at your hotel.

Just to add, forget the doctor's note. Nobody accepts them. Who's to say it's not forged or fake?

The sharps containers in the restrooms are usually full. Bring something you can store them in just in case. You can also try going to first aid for sharps disposal. I think we've done this before but can't remember for sure.

I have diabetes, and I am currently at WDW since the last two weeks. I paid attention to the sharps containers in all the restrooms I've been since I'm here, and I can tell you I hit a full box only once. I was actually wondering if they were being used, because I come from Europe and we don't have these.

Disclaimer: I never dispose my needles in public space. I keep them safely in my resort room, bring them back at the end of the trip, and dispose them safely when I returned home.

Feel free to ask me if you have diabetes-related questions, I'll be glad to help!
