Has anyones child had to have a VCUG to help diagnose a UTI and its cause. My DD (5) has to have one...and I'm afraid she's going to totally freak out. Doesn't sound like fun...especially for a little girl.

Kathy, I'll send you a pm with Heide's e-mail addy. Two of her daughters have had to have VCUG. Perhaps she can offer you some assurance/advice or at least tell you what your daughter can really expect.

I know my DD had it done, but the years have fogged up my memory of what was involved. Bottom line was she came through it OK, and probably handled it much better than I did. She had recurrent UTI's when she was small, and I do remember that being quite difficult - especially while trying to potty train her.

Happily, she hasn't had a UTI since she was about 5 years old, and she's now 14. I hope your little girl outgrows them too.

Thanks for your responses...I'm sure she'll handle it better than we will. They're sending us into Boston for it...that just makes it seem scarier.
