Medical question needs answered?

Ok i woke up this morning and the thing in the back of your throat that hangs there it looks like a little puching bag (sorry cannot remember what its called) was all swollen up. Does anyone know wha the name of that thing is? My husband blocked my medical books to where I can't get to them and its driving me crazy trying to figure out the name of the thing. My throat was sore for the past 2 days and this morning I woke up and the thing was all swollen and I talk funny and Im not sure what is going on,

You mean it's not called "the hangy ball"???? I swear I've always thought it was the epiglottis. So, I looked it up. Turns out I've been wrong all along. You truly do learn something new everyday.
