Medical professionals update 3

my step mom is the one with that attitude not the doctor she was the one that said I broke my first bone

Regrading the boot going to see if i can see a podiatrist soon unfortunately this happens over the weekend so we have to wait till they open tomorrow morning

Well...presuming you saw a Dr. and got a xray at the urgent care - what did they say it was?
Sounds like the doctor said she had a fracture.

Then OP mentioned having a "broken bone" and her step mother corrected her saying, "No, you have a fracture, not a broken bone" because step mother apparently doesn't realize a fracture and a broken bone are the same thing. (Maybe she thinks it's like a sprained ankle vs a broken ankle?)

It's always annoying when people "correct" others with the wrong information, but it's especially problematic when it's something medical because their misunderstanding could cause more harm.

Is it safe to wear a boot that no longer supports you I am in the smallest boot on the tightest settings and my foot is moving around in it

Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of the boot I will be contacting my doctor on Monday but just curious

I’d think it wouldn’t do its job if it didn’t not fit properly. Definitely talk to your doctor and in the mean time avoid a lot of walking around.

My mom came over she stuck a pice of goat in the boot so my foot will stop moving around

Don't put anything in your boot that the medical professionals did not tell you to put there. It can put pressure where it isn't supposed to be and create more harm.

Several weeks after my ankle surgery I was finally placed in a boot. I was told to not even put the boot over my pant leg, but to wear pants that can fit over the boot. The only thing that went in the boot other than my foot was a sock, which I was told to wear because the boot will start to stink really badly if you don't.

unofficially I was told can't go back to the gym for 10 weeks
Did a medical professional tell you this? I was back in the gym two weeks after getting my surgical cast off and a hard cast on. I was still on crutches so I couldn't use any leg machines, but the row machine became my best friend. I just placed my left foot on the ground next to the machine and used my right leg on the machine. One of the trainers at the gym who was also a physical therapist helped me figure out what I could do.

After I was able to put weight on my foot, I was cleared to use the stationary bikes.

I tried cardio with modifications. It was a nightmare. I could do weight training days though I’m not sure how familiar you guys are with BurnBootCamp basically cross fitness

Try the row machine. It's not only cardio, if you work hard enough, but it also uses around 85% of the muscles in the body. When I could finally swim again, my swim times dropped quite a bit because I gained more core strength, especially in my lats, abs, and arms/shoulders.

Cross fit isn't the only way to gain strength so you may need to alter your training while in your boot.

My apologies. I was entirely going on what I had gleaned (second hand) from hospital visits. I've had numerous greenstick fractures but never a full break - thankfully. I DO know however that there is a term for a break whereby the bone protrudes from the skin - I just can't recall what it is. It is, however, serious thanks to the high probability of infection if left untreated.
I think that’s a compound fracture? My nephew had that happen to his forearm and the medical staff called it a compound fracture.

update on the boot situation he actually said I was wearing it too tightly and because my feet are very narrow he recommended putting a slipper in it

Also he said I am free to walk short distances like my house to the gym for strength days only
