Medical Overflow

We use the medical overflow for parking due to using a walker. We've been to Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios this month. Our previous visit was March 2020 (we're local). At those two parks medical overflow is now in the same area as regular parking. Have they also been moved at Epcot and Magic Kingdom?
New things stress me out and since I'm driving to Epcot and Magic Kingdom instead of my husband I'd like to know before hand.

We were in Medical overflow at Epcot last Thursday. It was 3 spaces over from the walkway and 3 rows behind the regular Handicapped. But it was also like 3:00 pm before we got there. Magic Kingdom we always were in regular Handicapped Parking no matter time of day.

I drove to Magic Kingdom yesterday. I'm glad I asked since Medical Overflow is still next to the regular handicapped parking. I wonder why Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios moved theirs? No complaints, just curious.

do not know reason it was moved but could it because parking/bus lots were redone?

Hollywood Studios entry area was completely redone, including moving the bus and parking tram areas. In the past few years, they moved and totally reconfigured the bus area and moved the Handicapped/Medical Parking. The old parking area was very small and frequently was totally filled. The new one is larger.

Animal Kingdom’s Handicapped parking hasn‘t moved over the last few years. As far as I know, the Medical Parking didn’t move - we often have to park there if the marked Handicapped Parking is full.

Did they do more work at Hollywood Studios during the pandemic? The previous time we parked there was March 2020 about a week before everything shut down and medical overflow was still near the accessible parking. I thought the new bus area was done at that time.

For Animal Kingdom we drove the end of July and again just a couple weeks ago and both times it was NOT near the accessible parking.

It just stresses me out not knowing where to go ahead of time. And asking at the parking booth doesn't always have a correct answer. I know it can seem silly to worry about such a thing, but driving in general is stressful for me.

I depend on Google maps a lot for this - you can see so much of WDW that way, including where certain parking areas are.

We had medical overflow parking at Hollywood Studios in mid Aug. We were pretty much at the entrance of the Skyliner.

We applied for an official parking placard with our state DMV but they're months behind because of COVID and we won't get it in time for the trip. I know you're supposed to have the official placard to use the Disabled Parking, but I was hoping we could at least use the Medical Parking.

I know you're supposed to have the official placard to use the Disabled Parking, but I was hoping we could at least use the Medical Parking.

You don’t need anything special to park in the Medical Parking spots, but you will need to talk to each CM you come to in the parking lot. Let them know you need
Medical Parking, but don’t have a handicapped permit. You may need to briefly explain why you need it (i.e. We have a wheelchair/ECV and can’t park in the regular spots). Watch for signs directing to Medical/handicapped parking - they do change the location as things fill out. This is especially true at EPCOT and Hollywood Studio.
If you happen to get her parking permit before you go, put it where the CMs can see it and slow when approaching CMs. We have our DD’s in view and normally don’t need to stop.

Without a permit, ONLY park in spots with white paint. Any spots that have either a handicapped parking sign OR blue painted lines are designated handicapped parking spots; people parking there without a permit could get a ticket.

there are no trams from medical area and this was true even before covid. esp at MK it is a distance to the TTC and slightly uphill. I have never been lucky to find a wheelchair to use to the gate. you will have something for her to use to the gate

We have our own wheelchair which we'll be bringing in the trunk.

ALL the parking at Magic Kingdom is at the Ticket and Transportation Center, so guests need to take either the monorail or ferry-boat to Magic Kingdom.

Most guests staying at a WDW resort take the bus to MK, even if they drive to other parks. The bus stop is right outside of the MK park entrance

correct you will still need to get from TTC by ferry or monorail.
