medical opinion on results of a chest CT scan

my 89 yo stepdad has been getting weaker and having more trouble breathing and has passed out a few times. The doctor has been slow to run tests and for us to get the results. He had a Ct scan yesterday with the order to do the scan stating soft tissue density left atrial region. Said it would be 5-7 days to get the results, but doctor called this morning about the test yesterday and wants to see him and my mother in the office first thing in the morning. He also has a atrial septal aneurysm that was found by another test but it was not a concern to the doctor last week. I am basically the one taking care of them and I really need to know what I may be looking at. I am keeping things light and positive and hope it is going to be okay. Thanks for any advice.

I don't think anyone can give you that information. It could be so many things. But it does sound concerning, doesn't it. Try not to look stuff up on the internet tonight--you'll just scare yourself to death. All you can do is steel yourself for whatever comes. I always felt that I'd rather know than not know, because if I know the problems I can devise a plan and a solution.
