My daughter has a history of random medical issues that we've not been able to pinpoint and which may not be related at all. However, she will usually be in pretty severe pain for an hour or two and then just tired after that.
Earlier in the year, she was screaming from abominal pain. We took her to the ER, they said inflammed appendix, but her pain got better. One doctor said sometimes little kids will have a grumping appendix that will inflame but then go back down and maybe that is what is wrong with her.
Last weekend we were at Great Wolf Lodge and she had a fever. We would give her Tylenol, she would sleep or relax for a little bit, then seemingly feel find until the medicine wore off, at which time the fever woul return and she'd become listless again. No fever since Saturday night, but this morning my mom was watching her and she was playing happily showing no signs of feeling badly. All of a sudden, she stopped what she was doing, crying and screaming that her head hurt. There was no consoling her and she was almost hysterical. My mom put her on the bed, covered up her head and rubbed her back, and she calmed down enough to feel better. Then, when I got home she woke up yelling and screaming again that it hurts, her head hurts, owwww, etc. I rocked her and she fell asleep mid-scream. She appears to be resting peacefully now. She has a doctor's appointment at 3:00, so if she is still in pain I will take her then. I'm hoping that she will wake up and feel better, in which case I'm not sure I should take her to the doctor.
I just don't know how concerned I should be. I know kids get sick, but I don't know how common it is for them to be SCREAMING from pain (different types) every 4-5 months or so. Maybe she just has a low pain tolerance? Although when she has fever or a stomach bug she handles that okay. She doesn't cry or scream like she does in these cases.
I feel like total hypochondriac mom because by the time I take her to doctor she is feeling 100% better and I know he's wondering why in the world this healthy kid is in his office.
Any ideas as to what could be wrong with her? I hate seeing my kiddos sick.
