Has anyone had problems with reimbursement from your insurance company after a medical visit? This past summer, DS9 woke up with blood from his ear while at BWV. I had to call the doctor and it cost around $200 for visit, meds, etc. Now his dad and step-mom are STILL trying to get reimbursement for the visit. I fear that one of our three will need medical attention on our cruise, and we will have the same problems. Step-mom has "good" insurance, so I am totally confused by all of this. Any input?

Based on my experience in healthcare it will depend on your policy. If they had an HMO did they get a referral. ER visits are covered regardless.

I had to visit the doctor on the ship for an eye infection. With meds and visit (which was very pleasant as far as a going to the doctor can be) cost was $165. When I got home I called my medical insurance provider and explained what happened, sent in my bill from the doctor and documentation of my payment. I was reimbursed about 6 weeks later.

It might be different when you are out of country on a boat where your medical choices are very very limited. Either it is the DCL doctors or nothing. Unlike staying at WDW where you still have choices. That might be the hold up there.
