Medical Insurance ??? for people in Mass-HELP!

Does anyone know if there's anyway to obtain medical insurance, other than COBRA, if it's not available thru your job? My DS is being dropped my medical insurance soon and his job is considered seasonal(landscaping), therefore, is not eligible for benefits. COBRA from my insurance is like $300/month.

I'm just looking for like a catatrosphic medical plan-something that would cover hospital expenses and large expenses, not necessarily routine care. Any suggestions?

When I was looking for insurance earlier this year, I couldn't find anything much cheaper then COBRA. Try going to http://www.bcbs.com. You can do an online quote. Of course, I was more interested in prescription coverage. Good luck on finding insurance. If you find a reasonable plan, please let me know.

My son will be turning 21 shortly and is not going back to school. He currently has BC/BS of AL thru me(I work for GE).

Does he own his own landsaping business? In our area the local Chamber of Commerce offers health insurance for its members, many of whom are small businesses with only a few employees.

There is always financial assistance he can apply for if/when he has a medical situation. Members of my family have used it - for example - one person fell and broke their foot - they went to the ER and were treated. When the bill came, they applied for the assitance and received partial assitance and they were able to set up a pmt plan for the remainder.

I usually get my short-term insurance through FortisFortis insurance

Last time I couldn't go through them, b/c of an internal cyst, so I ended up going through another company. I've been going through my paperwork the past couple of days, if you want me to I can pull that out also for you to give you another company.
