we're supposed to leave on Saturday but today my husband had to be admitted to The hospital, probably for a couple of days.
We have insurance on our flights but Not on our hotel. We also have tickets to MNSSHP.

Anyone know what we can do? I have to call Disney but not able to call this second. Will Disney refund or move our vacation? Will we lose all our money?
Help. I need advice.

Disney will let you rebook. They may even refund you for the party tickets if they're feeling nice (they don't have to, but they sometimes will.)

Yes, call them. I was able to cancel a hotel stay once (a number of years ago) when we woke up on the day we were headed to WDW and my oldest had the chicken pox!

Oh that makes me feel so much better. My husband is panicking about it and keeps apologizing. I keep telling him to stop apologizing and we'll work it out or even if not he just needs to be ok. But hearing some positive things about Disney helping made him feel better.

I have to actually walk out of the hospital to make a phone call. No service. Just wifi. So I will give them a call in a little while. I just feel better now hearing this.

Does your phone have the option for wi-fi calling? If so you won't need to leave the hospital. Just set it to wi-fi calling and you can call or text from inside.

I had emergency surgery and everything was moved. Party tickets were refunded via a Disney gift card. No worries.

I'm so sorry. That's scary stuff. He's where he needs to be. Better there than Disney at this point!
I hope it all works out and you end up having the vacation you've been looking forward to.

I don't know what the reason was, maybe Matthew, but I remember reading that people were unable to go to the Halloween party and then changed their trip to December. They were able to use the party tickets for the Xmas party.

If you know if you can in a few weeks, maybe that's an option?

Good luck!

It was the hurricane, disney works like airlines in this case where they open up cancellations and reschedules without penalty (but usually some restrictions on when you can reschedule for)

Definitely call today if you can! If you have a package, you can cancel up to 2 days prior (TODAY!) and get everything refunded except your $200 deposit. If you re-schedule the trip, you won't lose your deposit. They may charge you a $50 change fee, but it's typically waived. If it's a room-only, technically they can keep your deposit if you are within 5 days of check-in, but hopefully they will work with you. Again, if you simply re-schedule, you shouldn't lose your deposit on a room-only. Hopefully they will refund your MNSSHP tickets, but they are technically not refundable. You could try selling those on stubhub or ebay if they won't offer a refund. I'm so sorry to hear about your DH! Hope everything is ok.

Just wanted to add...hope he is doing better! Don't worry about Disney. They should work with you, especially in a situation like this. As others have said at the very minimum you will just have to pick other dates so as not to lose your deposit. You could always change those dates again later on when you have more time to plan clearly.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and tips.

I did call Disney. They said that if we canceled now they would keep everything. But we can change our plans at any point up until the night of the 29th. We definitely don't want to cancel so that's good enough for me. Unfortunately, they don't have a room available for the last night in the same room category if we were to push it back a day. We would have to be "upgraded" to a pirate room and it would cost more. That doesn't sound like an upgrade to me.

But, I will worry about that later. For now, I am just breathing a sigh of relief that we are even allowed to make a change. So now I can go focus on my husband and not have that looming over our heads.

Glad everything worked out. Wishing your dh a full and speedy recovery. Hope you have a great trip when you get to reschedule!

Personally I would escalate to guest services. They shouldn't say that about a medical emergency. I would call back when you bave more time and ask to be transferred to guests services. They are far more lovely and willing to help.

Hope DH gets better!

I agree.

I agree with going to guest services. I had an emergency 2 years ago and had to cut the first night off of our trip. Disney was very gracious and refunded our money.

I agree too!

Call guest services. I'm shocked they didn't work with you more. Hope your husband is feeling better soon!
