Medical Emergency at Park

Has anyone ever experienced a medical emergency while in one of the parks? My DH suffered a serious head injury last year which left him with a tendency to have seizures followed by temporary memory loss. I am concerned that DH might have a seizure if he over does it (too many rides and blistering heat). So, I have lectured DH on taking it easy and plan on putting ID cards on each of us and our kids (ages 9, 8 and 6) with our names, our hotel, room number, my cell phone, etc. so that if we get separated someone will know how to contact me. Unless he hurt himself, he would not require a hospital visit, but he would need to get back to the room to rest. Would Disney be able to transport him back to the resort (Poly)? Any other ideas on how I should prepare for this? Has anyone else had to deal with this? Help!!

I haven't had to deal with this personally. The CM's will know how to help you if necessary. Just relax and plan on a great vacation! Sounds like you have thought of everything and covering all bases! :flower:

Why don't you try posting this on the DISabilities board? There are lots of wonderful people with lots of good advice and knowledge that will be happy to answer your questions. They are a great resource!

Our daughter had a seizure last November at MGM Studios. We were immediately told to bring her into the ABC Commisary to get her cool and the paramedics were there in no time. They checked her vitals and such and then escorted us up to the care center. We let her rest there as she recovered from it. THen they were nice enough to send a special van to take us back to the resort.
Disney was very excellent in their responses that day.
Here's hoping everything goes okay on your trip.
BTW, she did quite well this time. No seizures last week, despite the congestion from a sinus infection she was fighting.

DD2 had to be transported to Celebration Hospital on Wednesday from the BC. The Reedy (?) Fire Department responded within minutes. Extemely helpful and professional. I was told that the ambulance was complimentary and provided by Disney. That was a big relief because some communities charge so much to transport you. All and all - I think Disney has your back. Best Wishes.

I actually had a medical emergency at Luau Cove, back in the day when church services were held on Sundays there. They called an ambulance for me and took me to the hospital. I could not believe how wonderful the castmembers were to me that day.

Thanks so much for the advice and warm wishes. Glad to hear Disney has the resources to assist in such a situation. I am quite use to his seizures and I help him orient to time and place afterwards. I am just afraid of what will happen if he has one when I am not with him. They are not predictable, so I never know what sets them off. We know that he won't be able to ride some of the rides with a motion warning.
