:happytv:Does anyone have media room pictures they would be willing to share with me ?
We have been looking online and we are thinking of painting it red with black trim . It is a very deep red not fire engine red, but my DH kinda liked one that was a very dark chocolate brown . We do not have to worry a about it blending with anything else . It is a Media Room only ( the only thing he asked for when we were looking for our new house LOL)

I bought him new media chairs for fathers day and they are black so they will go with anything .

Just needing some ideas , also did you paint the ceiling the same color as the walls ? it seems like the ones we have been looking at online have the ceiling dark also

TIA

You might want to browse some home theater sites or perhaps check some magazines. Among the considerations for a media room(assuming you mean a place where you'll watch movies and tv) are the colors and type of paint used and how it reacts to and reflects light. Colors that bounce a bunch of light around a room can affect the quality of viewing. I think you're safe with dark colors, but I'm thinking maybe something neutral like gray might be something to conisder. Good luck with the project, sounds like fun.:)

Not my own media room here, but black and deep red are a very classic media room look. I like this one:

If it's strictly a media room, you will want the ceiling dark. This does make it harder to light up brightly, so not such a great idea for a multi-use room. But perfect for the kind of theater rooms that we have around here!

I like shades of browns and taupes with black chairs, then you can use red or any other bright color you like as an accent and change it out it you get tired of it.

Thanks Kathy : ) That is the one we found online that was red. Red scares me though LOL It is taupe in there right now and I liked it but it is not my room it is all his.

Ours is not as big as that one in the picture. We have 6 chairs and 1 platform . I wish that we had a bigger media room and no game room but hindsite is always 20/20 .

forgot to add painting the ceiling black is also freaking me out ! It was built to be a media room so there is that wierd ceiling in there and no windows . They said it was for light/sound when I asked about the ceiling LOL shoot I didnt know my DH kinda just shrugged cause he already knew LOL

Our new home will have one in the basement. It is empty right now. But it has been painted. My husband chose a navy blue in matte finish. While it is impossible to clean in that finish...it is optimum so you don't have glare. He had the walls and ceiling painted the same color.

Color was chosen so the the room will be as dark as possible. The decor will be disney flicks. We found several lithographs that we had stowed away. The navy blue was a nice color to display those.

No furnishings yet. :(

Taupes and browns on the walls and ceiling will be beautiful, and not as harsh as the black and red. I think they'll be softer and nicer with a smaller space, too.

Have fun putting it together!

Kathy I blame you for what I am about to say LOL

My Dh kept looking at that pic of the room you posted and now he said he needs to go agahead and put 2 more chairs in there . I made him spread them out so there could be side tables and room to walk around in there . He just said he is thinking about moving our popcorn machine and drink machine out of there to maybe put in 4 more chairs LOL I told him she wanted you to LOOK AT THE COLOR not the seating :lmao:

Ahhh, I LOVE our media room. We set it up when we finished our basement about 5 years ago and it was a great choice for our family. I am a total movie junkie and adore sitting down there watching whatever new comes along. In fact, today we just watched the new "Alice in Wonderland" down there. The set-up was my DH's idea but once he got it I fell in love. My DS12 has all his video games down on the system (360 looks GOOD) and we have Direct TV pumping in there too for, of course, The Superbowl but everything looks good down there.

It used to be that the old projectors required complete darkness for good quality images. These days, though, some projectors do well with small amounts of light in the room so they don't need to be so dark, but it depends on the model and your taste. We have the Panasonic projected onto a fixed screen surrounded by velvet, when it's off it's non obtrusive. One hint, make sure the walls aren't a gloss because that will cause trouble. We have taupe walls with a white ceiling and it's all good. I wish we could have fit those stadium seating chairs in the basement but the retaining wall posts made it impossible so we just centered a matte brown sofa and got some chairs for guests. How you set up the sound system speakers is super important so do research ahead of time. When you run the wires for the system #1 spend the extra money on the good stuff #2 run extra wires for every possible connection you think you might ever need and #3, always leave a full length of string in there so you can easily pull through more wires as you add on or make adjustments over time, #4 when you cut the wires leave them longer than you need and shove the excess back into the wall so you have wiggle room if you move stuff.

I totally LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT & I bet you will too

We put a dedicated home theater room in our house when we added on two years ago and love it. I would post pictures but I don't know how but we painted the walls a dark soft grey. We painted the wood trim, book case surrounding the screen and side columns a soft black. Seating is black leather. For a punch of color, we found great lights from ELK lighting called Illuminare. These lights mimic low voltage fixtures but are much cheaper and don't have that annoying low level buzz that low voltage fixtures normally develop. We used bright blue sconces on the side columns and red, blue and yellow pendants over a bar in the back of the room. Other than wishing that we had made the room a little larger, I don't think that I would change a thing.

ROFL!!! Now you'll have room to have us over for movies!!! :rotfl:

Dis meet Joe Pool lake my husbands Media room LOL

Today he ordered 2 more chairs so that means that the tables I have for there will have to go in the game room .
I wanted to figure out a way to put my Grandfathers Super 8 projector in there I thought that would be a neat touch . I got the reels of us as kids and I am trying to figure out a way to display them stacked up , anyone have stuff on shelves in thier rooms? My Dh said no that only the movie posters go on the wall
