Med DVC Cruise 7 Night

Hi there,

I was given an invitation to express my views about DVC in the survey but towards the end they mentioned the DVC Cruise on the Med in 2004. The cruise starts in Barcelona and stops in 5 other stops, this sounds like to good to be true as the Med is great in the summer. Does anybody have any info?


PS, In the comments of the survey I brought up the following points: The spreading of points over the week, instead of loading the weekend nights.
Another point of note was the lack of a decent loyalty discount on passes.

The cruise board on this site has some threads on the possibility of moving one of the Disney ships to the Med for summer of 2004.

I think it's been mentioned several times that the reason for the higher weekend points is so the local members don't book up all the weekends for long weekends, etc. To make it more fair for members who can't make it as frequently. So while that might be nice to have equal points on the weekends, I don't think I'd like it if it means I have no place to stay on the weekends.

But thanks for the info. While I don't see gonig on a cruise in the near future, it's nice to see that other options are being explored.

At last year's Old Key West association meeting, a member asked the question about leveling points. DVC management mentioned the uproar that they experienced when the slightly modified the point allocation in 1996 (or roundabout that year). What I took away from that meeting was that they take any change to the point allocation very seriously. I doubt that we are likely to see any change in that area.

If you think about the points on a weekly, rather than daily basis, it makes the weekend points easier to take.

I'm the same way -- I'd be pretty upset if i couldn't get 7 consecutive nights because the local members had grabbed up all the nights.

I don't think DVC thought that members would actually move out for the weekends because of the higher points, but truthfully, I think it's the best option for them.
