Hi all

Wondering if anyone can help, I know there is a cruise section but I really wanted a UK perspective.

After returning from another amazing WDW trip we are looking at going on a Med cruise next year.

any idea on the best way to book. Whats the best way of getting from the airport to the port. We will be leaving from Barcelona.

Thanks

I did a Med cruise this year. I booked through Dreams (The Dis's own travel agent, can find link at top of the page) as it also got me a ship board credit.

If you're not staying in Barcelona the night before then you can get a taxi straight from the airport to the port, it's a pretty quick ride, perhaps 20 mins or so. Their taxi's are licensed (like Black cabs are in London) so are safe and on a meter but note that both the Airport and the Port charges taxis a fee for being on property, I think in the region of ¬10 (my poor brain can't remember if that was each location, or 10 combined, sorry), something like that. This won't be on the meter and they add it on at the end.

Alternatively you can pre-book a transfer for a bit more peace of mind. There are a bunch of companies that do this but I found a good rate with someone called Zip Transfers and had a very good experience with them. Our driver couldn't speak English very well, but she was still very friendly (show's that language doesn't have to be an unsurmountable barrier!) and we really couldn't fault them. I think that worked out at about £70 so must have been around ¬75-80 I guess.

Edit: Oh, and I liked Zip as it also had a UK telephone number to call in case of problems.

Weird, not sure if it's just my computer or the forums, but the little line thing in front of the numbers is meant to be the Euro symbol.

Hi

You will love it, especially now the magic is in having renovations.

We flew to barcelona the day before and stayed at novotel barcelona city hotel.

We just caught a cab from outside the airport to the hotel.

When we got off the cruise we could have paid for disney transfer back to the airport.

Thank you every one for all your help.

Am I correct in thinking food is included. I know grats are not is there anything else we would need to buy?

Thanks again lovly people

All food is included including room service but you have to tip in cash, everything else is charged to your room.

Soft drinks are included at dinner and from the self service but other locations you have to pay.

Alcohol is not included and the tip is 15%.

The spa is extra and the tip is 18%.

The everyday tips are $12 per person per day including children.

Photos are extra as are souvenirs.

Disney doesn't allow discounting so anywhere you can book through should be the same price, the only difference is how much OBC you get. If you book through a USA TA such as Dreams you'll get better T&Cs but you have to pay in dollars which means the price could change depending on the exchange rate.

Its better to book sooner rather than later the price will only go up.

There are a few other exceptions to food not included. Obviously any meal in Palo has a cover charge.

From room service then anything 'pre packaged' snack is still charged for, like popcorn or a bag of M&M's - if they can't create it from scratch and it's a brand item, then it'll be extra.

These are the same items that are found at the little shop just in front of the main theatre too so beware the movie/show snack trap!

Also 'luxury items' from room service like the chocolate covered strawberries are extra.

Just one more thing about the drinks too, note that the 15% tip is an auto gratuity so don't double tip (unless you want to ofc :)).

Highly recommend getting in a day early. We too stayed at the Novotel & it was great. Used public transport to get to Novotel & then cab to port. On reverse we used a luggage transfer service from port to airport then made our own way back as our flight wasn't til late afternoon. DCL say no flights before noon, but you would easily make an earlier one
