Great Trip report! We just booked the same cruise for Sept 8. I am thinking about doing some of the stops on our own. It seemed you did everything I want to do in Rome. Was it easy to figure out what train to take and where to go? How long did it take? Also thinking about doing Cinque Terre on our Own, Was it easy and how long did it take? Any suggestions would be great. This was a quick decision we just made a few days ago so i have started researching like crazy.

Rome very easy...Cinque Terre even easier

It is defiantly doable to do all we did in Rome as long as you don't plan to do indepth tours of everything...we did the I saw it walked around it and I will read it in Rick Steves book later...all in all Rome was awesome and I am so glad we did all that we did.

Cinque Terre is absoultely amazing and the train is a short ride...about 20 min walk to the station..a must for that day is two hike some of the trails. let me know if you have any questions
