Imagine, if you will....

That we have purchased 200 points at SSR and are also purchasing 150 points at BWV.

Let's say that in 2004, we want to make reservations for a 2BR at SSR in the Dream Season (285 points for the week), and that we want to make the reservation 11 months in advance.

I know that in order to make the ressie, we will have to utilize all of our SSR points for 2004, plus borrow 85 points from 2005.

My *very* newbie question is this: Can we cancel the ressie at the 7 month mark and then substitute BWV points for the borrowed SSR points and make the reservation again (using the 2004 SSR points and the 2004 BWV points) -- or are the 2005 SSR points automatically considered borrowed (say, even if a reservation isn't kept)?

We are struggling with the best way to add points and stay at our home resort (SSR) without buying directly from DVC.

How do you manage points at multiple resorts without making yourself crazy?

Once you borrow points, they are borrowed and you can't return them. We own points at OKW (300), BCV (100) and VWL (100). If we don't have enough points, we will make a reservation using the number of points we have, plus another reservation at a second resort. Then at 7 months, we try to combine them into one location if possible.

We've done this several times.

Another option would be to book 5 nights at SSR and 2 nights at BWV 11 months out with hopes of being able to replace the BWV nights at 7 months.

Another... rent/transfer 85 SSR points from someone else, then rent/transfer your unused BWV points.

First of all, there would have to be a 2 bedroom still available at SSR. If you cancelled the 11 month reservation and there were people on the waitlist for that time and room size, the cancelled room would go to them.

As others have posted, the points you borrowed could not be returned. However, at 7 months (assuming availability), you could ask MS to use the 85 borrowed points plus 85 2004 points from BWV. Then you could bank 85 SSR points from your 2004 use year. (Of course, you would have to be within your banking deadlines). The 85 banked points would then be good for stays within your 2005 use year.

If you want SSR and don't want to buy from Disney, you'll have to wait for a resale. Could be quite a while until you find a contract with an acceptable number of points and use year.

It's possible, but it does take extra care and attention to detail if you don't want to lose points. I'm glad all of our points are at one resort and have one use year. Really does simplify things.

Best wishes -
