I sure am hoping someone has an easy fix for me here. When I picked up the kids from skiing today and loaded the skis in the back, I could not get the right cargo door to shut (the passenger side door the one with the handle). I have the "barn doors" for the cargo doors so it is not like a hatch back type set up. Anyway it appears that the latch that locks the doors is stuck in the locked position. I tried using my FOB and the buttons inside the Yukon to unlock it but no go. Tried to use the key to unlock and even though I can hear something moving in the door when I do this, it does not move the piece that is causing the door not to shut. I am not mechanically inclined in any sha[e or fashion so if anyone knows how to fix this easily, I would need clear step by step instructions. Thank you in advance for anyone that can give me any help at all! PS it is a 2002 Yukon XL

Ours used to do this on my passenger door of my van. Go look at the lock area of the cargo door. (On the part where it meets the other door. the part that would lock it to the vehicle. It should be either a crescent shape or a closed circle-ish shape) then go look at the lock area of the open driver or passenger door. The locks are the same. notice that one is *open* (crescent) and the cargo one is *closed* (circle-ish) (I know this description stinks, but it should be clear when you look at it.) We had to pry our passenger door back to the *open* position. You should be able to use a large screwdriver.

Ours did this about 10 or 12 times in a 1-year period then never did it again.

yup! use a screwdriver to "pop" it back into the right position. then get some heavy duty grease and squish it in there.

Screwdriver to pop it back into position and lots o' grease.

DO NOT be tempted to use a finger. That will hurt very much and still probably not work.

And will probably lead to use of foul language! :rotfl2: (Although, I genereally used a little anyway before i could get it to pop back into place! :lmao: If DH was home, I got him to do it. No foul language required for him to make it work. )

Thanks I'll give it a try again. It was dark and snowing last night so I couln't see what I was doing!

You could spray some WD-40 in there too.

Thanks for those trying to help. I ended up having to take it to the garage and they ordered a new latch should get the Yukon back today with a working cargo door.
