Sadly this is very true. Not vaccinating puts infants and the elderly at more of a risk. Also, some children cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons, which is why it is of utmost importance for those that can, to be vaccinated. Whooping cough is also back now. As an RN, I have watched far too many children be admitted with whooping cough and it will break your heart to watch. So sad, because it is so easily prevented. I understand a parent's choice, but I believe there is a lot of misguided information out there about vaccines. Some is just plain hysteria. Watching one child die of whooping cough is enough to change your mind. No one should have to die like that when we can prevent it. Not judging those that do not vaccinate....so don't flame me. HOWEVER, I do think we need to address the education on vaccinations more as a medical public. And that parents need ALL the information available to make informed choices.
