Mears

Ok, I know everyone suggests not to use Mears. And chances are if I don't have to buy park tickets we won't use Mears.

But just in the case we have to use Mears... what should I expect. We are planning to go in January, so it's a light travel time.

I'm not so concerned about getting to the hotel, but getting to the airport without being too late (I would like to be there an hour to an hour and half before flight time).

You will be definely not be late going to the airport. Mears usually pickes you up for the airport 3 plus hours before your departure time.

You will expect A LOT of stops and a very long time to get to your resort. Otherwise, it's not bad at all.

so then.. if my flight departs mco at 6:00... Mears will pick us up at 3:00?

Hmm, what will you expect, well I sure hope you dont have a big family and if its just you I hope you have alot of patience and a great sense of humor. This is what happened the last and final time we used mears. (and this is why we always use tiffanys from now on). First hearded like a bunch of cattle to the mears waiting line. Actually had to stand next to a foreighn tourist whom we later realized must have thrown up on himself and didnt change, The smell was horrific. I think this time we went with a couple to the riverside area etc. All I remember seeing was huge stacks of luggage everywhere out front of there. This was our trip back. Pick up like 5;30 a.m. at the AKL. Our flight was at least 3 hours later, there are 5 of us, dh, myself and the 3 ds, first we go to coronado springs and pick up the honey moon couple who tells us their tale of woe how the mr. has been laying in bed the last 3 days with food poisioning and they are happy to go home now, then we go to Carribean Beach and await a grandma and grandpa. Grandpa is in a wheelchair. He slowly and it does take him a long time to get onto the van, we all have to switch our seats to accomodate him, He is mobile and was just resting in the wheelchair but he has broken his arm. In the van he tells us how he broke his arm getting into the disney bus during a rain storm. So this is why we will never go on mears again. I like a little privacy and if you go with them you better have patience, a sense of humor and not mind lots of stangers and a long ride to your destination. So its tiffany for us all the way. Personal sign, pick up, only our family etc., takes luggage for you etc. Good luck.

Well it will probably be just two of us. and the both of us took greyhound from NYC to Buffalo. So, it can't be much worse. Also we are going in January, I dont know if there will be a long line to wait in.

Does Mears use Buses or Vans

Mears uses buses and vans. I did see them have a huge bus once and it was going to all the all star resorts. They were packing them in for sure. You might wait a little. They ususally wait to they have close to a van full. I guess it it just economic for them.

My sister and I used Mears this July and stayed at the AKL. It took a while for me to exchange our vouchers to tickets when we got into MCO because there was quite a line of people. Also they did make othe resort stops before we arrived at AKL. It was alright though, it gave us a chance to see what the other resorts looked like. I would say from the time we arrived at airport until we got to our hotel was about a hour and a half. Leaving the resort my travel agent had suggested we give Mears our departure time of an hour earlier than what it actually was in case they were running late. I ended up giving them the acutal time we would be leaving and the driver was about 20 minutes early picking us up at the resort! That was a surprise. We got to the airport 2 hours before our plane departed even though he did make other resort stops along the way.
I would suggest if you are really worried about getting to the airport on time just give your departure time being an hour earlier than what it is. I am sure that way you won't have to worry about being late.
When we go again next summer we are going to use a towncar service, not because we were unhappy with Mears, but because we have more people going with us and we think it would be more convienent for us all.
Mears picked us up at the airport in a van and from the resort in a bus. I think it varies.

Ouch! You can rent a car under 25 years old but it would cost you more than the rest of your vacation. Sorry.

Don't waste your time with Mears. It does not cost much more for a wonderful towncar.
Mears treats its customers like cattle. By the time you get to your resort you will be wiped out!
For the sake of your sanity.... DO NOT USE MEARS!!!!!!!!!!

Most of the posts I have seen from you (BeckWhy) indicate that you are trying to conserve cash, in a Big way. Didn't you mention that you were getting to the airport by Greyhound or something? If that is indeed the case, Mears will be a relatively efficient and cost effective means. Yeah, in an ideal world we would all ride in Limos, but in the real world, you under 25s need to do this relatively cheaply. An even cheaper way to go would be the Orlando city bus system, but that is only if you don't mind it taking a couple of hours and a couple of transfers to get to the airport; they have a website somewhere; that will save you a ton of money. I think in the cost vs time equation, Mears is going to strike a happy equilibrium for you. Big deal if you have to wait a little while or ride with a dozen other ppl , you've saved enough for Lunch at Akershus. If the folks on this site really want to help out, they will coordinate departure times with you and pick you up on the way to the airport in their Limo.

Above all have a fun time on your vacation, and don't blow all you money on stuff that doesn't really matter.

After taking a Greyhound bus to the airport Mears will be a treat. Save your money and take Mears. For 2 people you'll save money. May take an extra hour to get to your hotel.

My sis and I took Mears from our hotel to the airport a couple weeks ago. Our departure time was 1:55pm and we were picked up at 10:30am. Our van made one more stop at another hotel and then we were off to the airport.
