Anyone have info on how long mears shuttle takes from MCO to POR? We have rented cars in the past so this is a first for us.

Thanks

We have been disappointed in the Mears shuttle for our past two trips. Once you get your tickets you have a wait. I think we waited at least 20 minutes this last year. The year before, they forgot about us and it was over 45 minutes.

Then once you get in the shuttle van or bus you will have other stops. They try to make them conducive to each other, but we've had some way out of the way locations prior to our stop.

As luck would have it or Murphy's Law we've always been the last stop regardless of the hotel.

We've decided to get a rental car next trip to avoid the frustration.

You might want to check out the transportation boards for further info.

Good luck!

We used Mears when my DW and I went on our solo WDW trip. I figured since there was just the two of us we would save some $ and use them instead of Tiffany Towncars. We were very lucky when we used Mears, we walked out of the terminal at the last stop they pick up and were on the bus in 5-10 minutes. Others had been waiting over 1/2 hr. We were also one of the first folks off when we got to WDW.

However, I will use Tiffany Towncar every time we go, no matter how many of us are going. The sevice is extraoridinary. It feels like we get to WDW so much more quickly. The stop for food at a grocery store is also nice...we always pick up some cheap treats.

My sis and I used Mears when on our trip in September. The wait was about 20 minutes for us and our hotel was the first stop... so it wasn't THAT bad. We'll be using Mears again in December.

Deprnding on how many in your party a towncar may be cheaper. It depends on if a van is ready to go after you get your tickets and if you are the first or later stop on that van's trip. It could be around 30 mins or it could be much longer. For 2 adults the town car is a little more but it is waiting for you and you get a 30 min grocery stop as part of the ride. 3 or more a towncar company can usually be cheaper.

We used them two years ago and the trip from MCO to WL was over an hour with the wait at Mears and all the stops along the way.
This year we have booked with FL Tours and it is only about $10 more than Mears and they assist with luggage and take you directly to your resort. We have our fingers crossed that this transportation goes as planned.

We've used most all the methods over the years and MEARS is really at the bottom of our list.
Towncars take you right to the door of your resort without any stops and as other threads have said, if you have a family of 4-5, it will cost you less per head than MEARS.

Depending on the time of day you arrive and what que your hotel is on the MEARS drop-off schedule, you can be looking at a LONG time before you actually get to your room.

This year I'm seriously thinking of renting a limo as a surprise. What a fabulous way to begin the Magic!!

I like Mears, its inexpensive and you meet people on the bus. The last time I went down I took Mears and met a Mother and Son who was also from Massachusetts. Since I was going solo that trip they invited me out for a day of goofing off. So we picked a day and met up and had fun. So for me Mears is a great way to go. Althought I'll admit, I'm wanting to spoil myself for my next trip and take Tiffany.

I thought I was the only one who felt that way :) I actually LIKE riding with other excited vacationers, and don't mind stopping at other resorts along the way. I just look at it as kind of a "tour" before I arrive to my hotel. I guess after a long trip some people may be too tired and anxious to deal with a longer drive, but for me, it somehow adds to the excitement. LOL

I have used Mears a few times in the past and although it took alot longer than expected, it was not that bad. When I go with family, we rent a car, but where I'm going solo, and since $110-120 (with tip) is alot of money for one person, I'll deal with Mears. Am heading to WDW in 2 days and will post my experience when I return.
