Mears shuttle help needed

I'm hoping someone here might offer some advice.

First off, I will be arriving at MCO on the 20th of Dec. at night. My husband will already have driven to WDW in our family car. Rather than his driving to the airport and trying to find me, I thought it made sense to just hop a shuttle. The cost is minimal, and I'll only have a carry-on to worry about. I'm flying Continental. Is it hard to find the Mears shuttle spot from where I land?

Secondly, my son will be flying in from school the next day. I think that the shuttle is a good idea for him, too. My only concern is that he has a very mild form of autism. He has flown alone before and done fine. On his first solo flight, he left his cell phone in a security bin and started flapping a little, but I saw it happen from the other side of the security area and alerted an officer about what was happening. He helped my son retrieve his phone. On all of his flights, we have either been there with him, or family was waiting to pick him up at the other end. He has never flown alone to such a mammoth airport. He has been to MCO many times, but I doubt that he will remember taking the monorail-type thing to luggage pick-up. He will also only be taking a carry-on.

Can someone help me explain to him how he will get from where he lands to the shuttle? He'll call me on his cell so that I can help him if he needs it. I want him to get used to doing more of these types of independent tasks on his own. He's 21. He's doing great in school and travels by bus around town on his own with ease. Many people wouldn't be aware that he had any challenges if they met him. He just seems very brainy.

Thanks to all for any help with this one!

If you're heading to WDW, why not just use DME??? As long as you are staying in a WDW owned resort, and you are listed on the room reservation, you can use DME. It is free and very easy...especially for your ds.

If, for some reason, you can't use DME, then the Mears shuttle is easy. It's on the ground level of MCO...same as DME. Go down to level 1 on the side you arrive on. DME is on Side B, but you can get Mears on both sides of the airport. The cost is about $19 one way per adult. You can't book it in advance if you are heading to a WDW resort...so just show up and pay, and you'll be told where to go and what vehicle to board.

But, please, let us know if there is a reason you can't use DME. Or, if you just didn't know about it.

Oops! I should have mentioned that we are staying at Bonnet Creek, so no DME.

Alrighty then...no DME for you...:thumbsup2
In that case, Mears. You can book it prior to arrival on the Mears site, or your dd can just head down to level 1 and pay for it then. It's all very easy. The Mears area is very easy to find....past the car rental counters, but just before the DME area..at least on Side B. On Side A, there won't be any DME area.
