I think it’d be cheaper and quicker to uber for a family of 4. Even break even for two people.

Standard return service for my family would start at $128.
Sounds like uber/lyft would be the way to go.
But I wonder how much the price of uber/lyft will skyrocket beginning January 1st.

Mears never did luggage, it was a separate business called BAGS, Inc. This is for transportation only, the luggage thing is a whole other level.

Families needing multiple car seats may be more inclined to take Mears Connect than rideshare. Solo travelers as well might be more likely to choose Mears Connect. But I think a lot of parties with older kids, couples, etc. will choose rideshare - the same ones who were choosing rideshare more and more before the pandemic, which I think may have led Disney to decide to discontinue DME.

FWIW, The details on the website say pickup will be 3 hours before flight (4 for intl flight), so same as DME now.

I should have been more specific- I wouldn’t want to sit around MCO on arrival. I don’t like to think about departing my happy place apparently

Yes, all of this! We currently use a booster and a carseat and have been opting for rental cars the last several trips since we don't like the busses to the parks. I keep seeing people respond about just choosing Uber or Lyft as an option but that's not viable for many families with small kids needing carseats or even larger families who would have a hard time fitting with luggage. I had hoped they would offer a better service to help compensate for the cost but it seems nearly identical to what is offered under Magical Express now.

No. you bring your luggage to their bus and it will travel to your hotel with you. But they will not pick up your luggage at baggage claim.

I suspect my family and I will opt for the premium service next year when we travel. We'll have eight people, so it'll be $420 roundtrip...but I like the idea of limited/no wait upon arrival and direct service to our resort, plus pick-up to return to MCO is only two hours out from flight time rather than three with standard service.

Honestly I would still do rideshare before this on solo trips. Multiple stops on DME are something I don’t mind because it’s subsidized by my room but I’m not paying for a glorified SuperShuttle making a million stops even if it is cheaper than Lyft.

Honestly I’ve been pricing out town cars recently for a one way trip since we’re staying at the Dolphin now for the first part of our October split, during the 50th weekend, and they’re really not much more than rideshare from MCO plus the driver will assist with luggage and we don’t have to wait around. That will likely be our move going forward post-DME.

It's $200 for the first four people and then $55/person after that.

If I remember it's 200 as a flat rate for a group of 4? And I can't remember what the per person rate was beyond that.

Honestly since I was pricing out a rental large enough for all our luggage + golf clubs that was just going to sit in the parking lot all week, 200 for the premium is a bargain compared to the 500-600 rental
