:sad2::sad2:Not looking good. Meant to be on the VS27. Got the usual email from Virgin saying online check in open but not holding out much hope of actually going. We live down the road in Reigate and it literally has not stopped snowing for what seems like days. Its the waiting that is driving me crazy. Atleast if I knew the flight was cancelled I could try and d something about it.
I am hoping that if flight cancelled they will let me rebook and also extend by the same amount of days that we will lose. Has this ever happened to anyone before? Will they charge extra to come back on a different date. Also, at wha point would people think its not worth going. Problem is my tavel insurance (Halifax) has told me I am not covered for snow so will not get back the money I have already paid out for the hotel and car. Too late to cancel both.
Anyway, trying not to feel sorry for myself as I knowalot of people in a much worse position than me.
Thanks

I wish I had some good advice for you :-( this weather sucks! I hope you manage to get there, I really do.

I really feel for you. :sad2:

My heart sank when I read that your travel insurance don't cover for snow - just off to check my documents as we're supposed to leave 24 hours after you. I keep checking the weather forecast but it's not looking great. I really hope that Gatwick opens tomorrow morning and you can get away.

Sending you lots of luck that a miracle happens and Gatwick re-opens tomorrow. :tinker::tinker::tinker:

i hope you get to go!!
i wish we could have even a smidgeon of your snow..
it didnt' rain even one drop all of november...
and we've been in the 80's every day and completely dry..
and now it seems we're burning to the ground...so many people burned to death....
i wish we could have your snow..

but hopefully, your flight will get out...it must be nervewracking for you!!
i would be a nervous wreck!

I would check your travel insurance policy wording very carefully as I think it's possible that you might be covered.
Looking here https://www.firstassistinsurance.com/travel/halifax/pdf/Halifax_Travel_Policy_Wording.pdf it says about Travel Delay/Missed Departure under what is NOT covered
any claim as a result of strike or industrial action,
delays or disruptions arising from weather
conditions which had started or were publicly
declared on or before the date your Policy
Schedule is issued or on or before the date you
booked your trip, whichever is later
Now, I'm not an expert but I take that to mean that unless the bad weather was already happening or was forecast when you took out the insurance you would be covered :confused3

I wondered about this too. It gets quite complicated too as policies usually have various sections under which you can claim and tell you that you can pick ONE (e.g. abandonment, delay, missed departure, cancellation).

they're planning to open Gatwick tomorrow!!!!!!

both virgin flights are scheduled to go but at amended later times, check the virgin website for details!! Looks like you might get there after all:banana::banana::banana:
