I am sure someone will redirect this post to the correct forum, I was not sure where to put it ......BUT

I have noticed recently that there is quite a bit of mean spirited answers to some of the posts.......also the level of sarcasm seems to really be escalating. I am not sure what this is all about...but being fairly new to the DIS (3 months) I find it very upsetting. People generally ask questions out of ignorance ( in other words, they need an answer to something they do not know) I think the correct Disney attitude would be to either

A. Answer with a friendly Disney attitude
or
B. Don't answer at all and keep your opinion to yourself.

There are constantly going to be questions asked over, and over, and over again. That is the nature of the board. After all, it is not rocket science...but to a lot of people it represents a lot of hard earned money and dreams for a perfect disney experience. So please, don't the few of you with sharp tounges ruin a great, great board. Thanks JMHO :sunny:

Really, just everyone please get along or do not post
It will get real boring, real fast without some friendly jabbing and differing opinions . . .

On the contrary. I think we liven it up !

I don't mind disagreeing opinions, they help us see different sides. What bothers me is deliberate rudeness and sarcasm. My feeling about DIS is that we are here to talk and share ideas and enjoy being here. When I am afraid to post because I know somebody will be rude about my post, it takes away from the happy feeling I'd like to have here.

I have had a couple of times when I made a comment, and then subscribed to the post , only to have been landblasted and then defended by multiple other posters. I have found that I just read then, and don't respond because people just seem wicked. I often seem to wonder just how old they really are, or how successful with their communication in the real world where they would have to make these comments to someones face. If you wouldn't say it in person, don't write it. However sometimes the written word does get "translated" in several different ways. What I truly dislike is when people post " there are lots of other posts on this...use your search engine" Really if I read a thread, and then realize that it's bacically the same question asked lots of times before, I just use the back button and go on. You are not obligated to post on every thread you read!!!!

The dis is the only place where I've seen the "disney is always right and you are wrong" attitudes and the outright rude posts. (I'm sure there are other forums where the same could be said but I haven't run into them and I don't want to)

IMHO, this wouldn't happen if the boards were moderated more closely. (again, just voicing an opinion...please people, don't go all crazy on my views! ;))

I'm not sure what exactly this is about, but I'd like to chime in and say all the posts I've read have been very positive and friendly. I think the people here are great! I also realize that being since this is a computer forum, sometimes our comments are also misconstrued by others or taken completely out of context! If I've ever tried to help someone and been wrong, the next person behind me has never been rude or hateful, and instead only corrects it. Again, I think everyone here is really nice and helpful.

People don't need things sugar coated, there is nothing wrong with the truth and differing opinions. There is a difference between the truth and rudeness or sarcasm. Face it, we've all seen posters who seem to be baiting people or saying mean or hurtful things because they can hide behind the computer screen.

I have started to recognize the offenders after reading here on the dis for a couple of months, It seems as these "tell it like it is" people are on the prowl, just waiting for a chance to stir things up. Just dont take anything personal....why let them have the glory of knowing they got to you.

There is a "moving to Hawaii" board that is moderated so closely that people get kicked off all the time and then must pay money to get membership back. It's so often it's irritating because then, to not pay, they just join as a new member with a new name. That said, that board still has many many sarcastic, mean rude people too. And the attitude there is if you don't like it you must not have the right (correct) aloha spirit. Like some obscure definition of aloha (slanted of course to fit the person who is defining it at that moment) is always right and you are wrong.

I don't know what the answer is because kicking off everyone who expresses an opposing opinion probably really limits the exchange of information, but allowing meanness does too because it keeps people from posting out of fear.

I don't think we all need to agree, but we don't need to get pleasure from slamming and flaming back on people either.
