We have deceided to not get the DDP this trip since we don't find that it's a good value for our family. Breakfast in a studio will be easy but I was wondering if anyone has prepared any other meals. I was thinking of maybe taking a small griddle if this is allowed. I am on a cardiac diet and that means low fat and low sodium. So prepackaged microwavable meals are full of sodium and a no-no for me. Any suggestions? Is the griddle allowed? Thanks

Every resort has a BBQ grill but I think you have to bring your own charcoal. You can bring a George Foreman grill for burgers and chicken or maybe even a crockpot. Frozen veggies are easy in the microwave and don't have added sodium (AFAIK).

We have brought a griddle before when staying in a studio room and made pancakes and grilled cheese on it.

You don't have a kitchen hood in a studio, so any grease creating, smoke creating cooking needs to be nixed. You also cannot cook on the patio/balcony, so don't bring anything to cook outside.

I tend to go more with the prepackaged salad, fruit etc....

one option I like is to go to Whole Foods and buy stuff off thier "hot bar" and heat it up in the microwave. (Not sure about the sodium/fat issue but I know there are some good choices there for most dietary needs)

I haven't tried this on a trip just yet, but I have recently fallen in love with the ziplock microwave bags. I use them for vegetables mainly, but I've done chicken breasts in them. You can google some recipes on their site. I've also done apples with sugar (splenda) and cinamon. Comes out sort of like apple pie filling. I thought I would bring some on our next trip.

I like the "Eggies". They're a microwaveable dish that you can use to cook eggs in the microwave. I use 2 egg whites and some fresh spinach and cook it for about 60 seconds. Then I make a breakfast sandwich by putting it on a toasted English muffin with a slice of cheese. Yum!

We have a crock pot and a fry skillet. Works well.

I am going to buy some baking potatoes(microwave) and meat for the grill and bagged salad.I will take small containers of spices with me.As much as I like eating out sometimes I just want to cook.:stir:

Have used a crock pot but now I try to stick to microwaveables. I bring precooked bacon, it keeps forever.
My take with list is:
sharp knife
cutting board - small, thin, plastic
big spoon
S& P
garlic, onion, powders in tiny camping shakers
microwaveable bowl with cover & deep plate
coffee & filters (I'm picky about coffee)

My grocery list is:
fruit bowl
veggie tray
rotisserie chicken
eggs
bacon
ham
cheese
bagged salad

for longer stays, meals include
salmon
chicken
veggies
salad

I don't eat wheat any longer, but when I did I bought sandwich thins, peanut butter, jelly & cream cheese. Cereal & half & half.

I like to purchase a couple of rotiserrie chickens from Publix/Winn Dixie. I add veggies, microwave rice/potatoes and salad. I then use the second chicken to top Caesar salad greens, croutons and Parmesan!

I keep a small sandwich maker in my Owner's Locker. With that, I can make everything from omelette to fancy sandwiches or dessert. I find it to be very flexible for two people.
