(bit of history first: I will be traveling with DH(48) and DS(17).
We don't really need to be entertained by characters. I mean, I don't have young ones to keep entertained and have them enjoy a truely unique experience).....just want to enjoy good food, great atmosphere, and AC (hee)

(A) Chef Mickey's or (B) Whispering Canyon Cafe --Breakfast (this would be on morning before we leave to airport).

Lunch : (A) Crystal Palace or (B) Tony's Plaza (another choosing you might suggest?)

I am hesitant about Tony's since the Spag. and Meatballs will be the only meal we three will order. Nothing else seems apealing to our taste.

Thx

Chef Mickey would be good--lots of food and you'll get character interaction which is even fun for a 17 yo.
Tony's is a fave of our family but if all you are going to eat is the spaghetti, why not try Liberty Tree Tavern or Crystal Palace for lunch. I think you'll enjoy either of their selections more.

WDW on June 24::yes:: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Have you thought of Trail's End at the Fort Wilderness. They have a great buffet breakfast for 1/2 the price of Chef Mickey's without the characters. We went to both on our last trip. My DD's are getting older now I didn't really care about the characters. They're more interested in how much bacon they can eat now! Anyway, if he doesn't care about the characters, for the same breakfast, I'd do Trail's End.

I have never tried either of the places you have suggested for lunch so I won't comment there! :)

whispering canyon cafe does serve a good breakfast. and i agree w/Melsmice--trail's end buffet is worth the trip. either of these would be a good choice.

I gotta say, I don't think Tony's is open for lunch................so that would make your choice easier, on that front.....

...and we love whispering canyon...............plus, having a 17 year old.......I suspect all the 'children' at CM's will drive him nuts........

I would say whispering canyon for breakfast definately. I thought that was so much fun when I went in December. My cousin who is 16 had a blast. I enjoyed the food very much. I stayed at Beach club Villas and staying there again in Dec but will make my way over there for breakfast.

I have not been to Tony's but have enjoyed CP when I have been there for lunch.

I say Whispering Canyon for breakfast (though if you had little ones my vote would have been CM).
CP for lunch since you think the only thing you guys would enjoy at Tonys is spaghetti. We have eaten at Tony's--I had Chicken Parmesan and it was really good. We all enjoyed our meal there. We also enjoyed CP and since its a buffet you have many different options :D

Have you considered the Plaza for lunch? Nice simple food, good prices, and a/c

Deb

For breakfast--NONE OF THE ABOVE. I'd choose the Kona Cafe or the Yacht Club Galley for a delicious meal.

For lunch, NONE OF THE ABOVE. IMHO the best sit down lunch in the MK is Liberty tree Tavern, followed by Cindy's. Tony's is over rated, over priced. Crystal palace is a bit too frenzied for me.

To: Ducklite: I will be going on Wed. am to Kona Cafe. So That place is taken care of, hee Thanks!!

To: Dahirsh: I WAS thinking of instead of Tony's (which I pretty much already have ruled out), to just simply go to The Plaza. Do you eat inside or outside. I was reading prior threads and there have been several opinions of CP not meeting their standards.....but we all are different . I will certainly keep the PS I have and ck it out and decide then. Thanks!!!

Re: Whispering Canyon - My son and I saw a Travel Channel clip on that restaraunt and my son said no because he thought I would become too interactive. Which would be the opposite case. The "action" may make me shy. But then, heck , we are going to 50's Prime Time, so go figure. I will make a PS for WC and just flip a coin. huh? Thanks!!!! :thewave: :drinking1 :thewave: :happy2:

Tonys = NO!!!!!:crazy2: Worst food we had all week!

Chef Mickeys not our fav either but lots like it and worth trying once.

I would suggest Plaza for lunch in MK but someday I want to try LTT.

We had our best breakfasts at Spoodles and Cape May.

Good luck.:D

Breakfast (B) Whispering Canyon

Dinner (A) Crystal Palace

Those are my votes.

Avoid Tony's...overpriced, sub-Olive Garden spaghetti even Lady and the Tramp would return. Try Liberty Tree Tavern instead.

The Plaza restaurant is all indoor seating. The tables you see outside are for the ice cream parlour and people waiting for their tables.

Deb

Dahirsh: Plaza Inn. Is it like some (most of the restaraunts) in Disneyland, where you stand in line get your food cafeteria style and pay and then find a seat? I have a feeling it is like that. which is fine with me. I don't have a problem with that, just curious.

Hey has anyone mentioned Cape May Clambake if you have the time for dinner and like seafood this is the place my son 5 last time suprised us and loved the steamer clams

The Plaza Restaurant is a full service sit down restaurant. The nearby Plaza Pavillion is counter service.

Deb

Breakfast: WCC
Lunch: I would either go to one of the monorail resort restaurants for lunch if you want to stay in the MK area. Or go to one of the Epcot, MGM or an Epcot resort restaurant if you are not staying MK for the afternoon. We find the MK restaurants to be very busy and hectic and we much prefer leaving the park and eating at Kona Cafe or Concourse Steakhouse.
