I've been going to disne for years and have never tried the meal plan. Is it worth the investment and does it really save money. I have a family of 5, me dw and 3 ds's(7,5,2,).

It's not worth it to everyone. I think it's worth it if you like to eat alot in restaurants and you like to have at least one sit down meal a day.

We eat out a lot. We like doing character meals and eating at 50's prime time, Le Cellier, Whispering Canyon, Cape May and H&V for Fantasmic and so on and so on so for us it's worth it.

It's $38 for an adult per day and $10.99 for a child per day. So for your family it's about $100 per day. One sit down meal at Le Cellier can cost more then $100.

You'll get one sit down meal, one counter service meal and one snack per person per day and your sit down meal will include an appetizer and a dessert and drink and your counter service will include a dessert and drink.

You just have to figure out where you want to eat, what it would cost out of pocket and then see which is cheaper for you; the meal plan or out of pocket.

One thing that can make it not worth it is if your child just turns 10 years old because then they are considered an adult and if they eat like a bird, it won't be economical.

Good luck!

I definitely like the Dining Plan for all the reasons in the previous post.I also like to have it paid for before I go.

Can you only get the dining plan if you book through Disney.

We booked through Expedia.

It was great for our family of 5 (three son's 9, 5 & 5) We paid $100 day for the plan andour meal at Le Cellier was $180. Each boy was allowed to order an appetizer

The only additional consideration I'd throw in there is -- as you know your kids better than anyone else -- can the kids sit there for an hour or more at a sit-down dinner? Granted, you can schedule yourself at buffets all the time (no wait for food once you're seated) but if you really want to maximize your investment, places like the concourse steak house, etc will allow you to all eat very well, and you're not stuck with an astronomical bill. I'd HIGHLY suggest you go to allearsnet.com and check out the menu section. You'll get a great idea on what food runs at the restaurants, and also be able to ensure each location you select will have something the kids will like.

I agree with checking out allearsnet.com. Get your calculater and start adding. Remember that tax and tip are included in the dining plan (I believe.)

If the dining plan was not an option, would you still do ts meals? If the answer is yes, the dining plan might be a good fit for your family. If the answer is no, then you might eat cheaper without it.
