This is only based on 1 use but the ME was ok. I arrived late on Sunday Evening (8pm). There were no lines at the counter or at the buses. The bus left after about 20-25 minutes and POP was the first stop. On the way back the pick up was at 545am for a 9am flight. Felt early but no delays at the airport that morning so an easy breakfast and some coffee does the trick.

Baggage service was something else.

I got to POP at around 9:15pm or so. My first bag showed up at my room at 12:15am. The second one at 2:00am.

On the way back, I had the option of checking in at POP with Jetblue. I was not even going to chance it.

Just my two cents

Sorry to hear that you weren't happy with DME. But, all DME info says to expect your bags up to 3-4 hrs after checkin at the resort. You arrived at MCO at 8:00 and got to Pop at 9:15...well within the average times. You should have expected your luggage to get to your room at any time up to 1am-ish.
If your first bag arrived at 12:15am (which would be about right for Pop baggage delivery..they have some of the slowest), then in all likelihood, your second bag was held up by the airline. This happens more often than most people realize. But, it's during the day and they have gone off to a park and don't know that all their bags didn't arrive at the same time.

When checking your bags for your return to your home airport, you aren't using DME, you are using RAC...resort airline checkin. They are completely different than DME. It is one of the best things about flying on a participating airline in my opinion.

While I am not certain this is what happened, but it is possible that JetBlue lost your bag. This happens many times, but people don't realize it, because ME is looking for your bag that the airline lost. You are assuming that ME lost it.

I would be happy that I was already in my room, instead of stuck in the airport looking for my bag - instead ME was looking for it for you.......

My DH is in love with this service. We just waved our bags good bye before we headed out to MK before our flight and when we arrived at our home airport, they were there waiting for us. Very easy to use :thumbsup2

Couldn't agree more. To me, it isn't really a vacation now unless you can kiss your bags goodbye at the airport, and not handle them until you get back home. ME and Disney has really spoiled me... and I like it!

To the OP: as others have stated, while none of us can tell you it wasnt a disney 'mistake' there is a good chance, as others have stated it was an airline oopsie. Your bag may have not gotten on the plane and had to come on the next. If you had a layover it could have been missed. Perhaps it got held up by TSA for some reason and was delayed, or again, perhaps DME missed it / misdirected it. But also as others have said, I'd much rather be without a bag for a few hours then waiting.... and waiting.. at the airport. As far as your first bag though, it was just as advertised that DME does. Delivered 3-4 hours after CHECK IN, not arrival at MCO. Many people think it's 3-4 hours after the plane lands, and while sometimes they do make it that fast, that's not what is printed on the DME info.

And as was stated, checking you bags to head back home is doing nothing but using curb side checkin 30 miles from the airport. RAC is handled totally seperate from DME. Many people use RAC that dont use DME (they use a car service or they rent a car).

We had the BEST luck with baggage delivery in Oct '08. Got to MCO about 10 a.m., got to the Contemporary before 11 and we were in our rooms (12 floor Atrium Club MK view) before noon.

Took the Monorail to Poly, ate lunch at Captain Cooks went back to our rooms and viola the bags were there.

Loved it and other times we've had similar experiences but that was the best.

I completely agree! I love not having to wait at baggage claim when I arrive at MCO. I can head straight for the ME. And I LOVE RAC.

In the event it takes longer than usual for our bags to get to the resort, we always just pack a small carry-on with a change of clothes for the kids, swimsuits, and other necessities for our first day.

Arriving that late, I would have everything I needed to go to bed and get up the next morning in my carryon and told Luggage Services to deliver my luggage the next morning!!!!

We did this on our April '09 (AKL) trip and it worked well.

We got in just before the 10pm cut off & had jammies and a change of clothes in our carry-ons. We asked not to be disturbed and to have the luggage delivered the next morning.

We hit the park early on our first full day and the luggage was there when we got back from the park that night.

If you use DME luggage delivery, but have them hold it til the morning to deliver, is it just like having DME deliver them or if you have them hold it does it change over to 'normal' luggage service and you have to be in the room to get them and is a tip expected at that point? Or will they still deliver them without you being there and the tip is taken care of?

DME delivers the luggage to Bell Services.

Bell Services will hold your luggage until whenever you want it delivered. We were not in the room when the luggage was brought up so, no, the bellman did not get a tip. If we had been in the room, of course we would have tipped them at that point.

It is still considered DME luggage service, so no tip is expected and it will be delivered while you are out.

Of course you are free to tip as you choose, but bell services CMs do receive a gratuity from DME for delivering your luggage. Any tip you give for that service is over and above a tip they already receive.

And if that (entirely likely, ask me about my JetBlue luggage experience ;)) IS what happened - would the OP have preferred to spend additional time at the airport, first waiting for luggage to arrive on the carousel, then for the carousel to finally stop without your second bag, and have had to go wait at the lost luggage office, and fill out forms, and then finally make your way to the Welcome Center and your resort - still without this suitcase?

I don't think I'd be so quick to blame the airline (this time). OP landed at 8p. It's possible that it was either the last flight of the night, or at least the last flight before 10p.

POP has scheduled luggage delivery. My guess is the 2am was the last delivery of the night. Good chance the 12:15 was the second to last luggage delivery of the night. Either do to an issue at MCO or more likely at POP one bag was missed and made the last delivery.

Right, I know they are 'paid' for the tip via, but I didnt know if you 'delayed' the scheduled DME delivery if it still counted. Thanks for the clarification. I dont ever plan on arriving at WDW late at night, but I was curious.
