Me: Sorry boss. I can’t come into work today, my car has broken down.

Boss: What about the bus?

Me: I don’t have a bus.

We really don’t have a bus here. If I wanted to take public transport to Orlando to work I would have to drive halfway there before I could connect to the bus system.

However, with rideshare being so abundant, I can’t imagine any boss here allowing you to be out unless you had to be at the garage with your car while it was repaired. That did end up happening to me once because they would tell me it was fixed, I would drive it partway to work and the repair would fail and back I would go. It took the whole day for it to finally be fixed permanently and I never went back there for service again.
