ME Question

Sorry, this has probably been asked before but I've never paid attention. If everyone in your party but one uses Magical Express (the other getting a rental car), is this a problem? How does the vouchers work? Just don't give it for the one? But the one getting the rental car will be using ME for the trip back (only getting rental car for 2 days), is that okay? TIA for answers!

DME isn't all or nothing. Not everyone in your party has to use it. HOWEVER, only the luggage of the person(s) actually riding the bus will be transported to the resort, because Disney has specifically said that DME is not a luggage-only service. So in other words, if there are 4 of you and only one takes the DME bus and 3 go in the rental car, the 3 in the rental car must not have put the yellow DME luggage tags on their checked bags; those 3 people have to pick up their luggage at baggage claim and take it with them in the rental car.

When someone boards a DME bus, their DME bus voucher is scanned. After your voucher is scanned, your DME-tagged luggage is then released to be loaded on a truck and taken to your resort. if your voucher is never scanned, your luggage won't be delivered and will remain somewhere at the airport; that's how Disney keeps people from using DME as a luggage-only service.

Your other question is an easy one. Disney doesn't care if you take DME one-way or both ways, so YES, the person who drove the rental car from the airport to the resort CAN take DME back to the airport on the day you fly back home.

Should not be a problem at all. Make sure to disignate who is doing what when making DME reservations.

As to the luggage, you do get 2 luggage tags per person that rides DME. IF your family is anything like mine, we only take 1 suitcase each. You should have enough for every person in your group to send their bags on the bus, while the hubby gets the rental car and meets you at WDW.

have you considered all taking DME and renting the car on-site at wdw? we usually rent a car for a day to visit my aunt and get it at either the car care center or the dolphin... drop off at the dolphin w/the valet 'cause it's usually late at night (and they receive the cars 24/7!)

We're going to rent the car at MCO (need it early the next morning) and drop it back off at the Dolphin. Thanks for the info!
