We are staying at POP in Aug/Sep. When I looked at the info for leaving the resort to go home I was a bit confused on my luggage. If I am using Airtran do I have to go and get my luggage out of resort storage or will it be sent directly from my room to the airport? Also if it is picked up in room for storage or airline do I have to be in the room when it is picked up? I am hoping to just leave it in the room check out, go to MK,and then return just in time to catch the ME to the airport. I do not want to cut it to close on any of the times but I also do not want to be sitting around waiting for things I do not need to be waiting for.KWIM?

On the return, your luggage does not go from your room to the airport.

Airtran is a participating airline, so what you will need to do is take your luggage to the Resort Airline Checkin Desk and check your baggage with them and get your boarding passes. You can leave your carryon with luggage services and then pick it up from them about 25 minutes before your bus is due to arrive. You can check in with RAC as early as 12 hours before your flight and no later than 3 hours before your flight. The desk is open from 5am till 1pm.

Value resorts have luggage service, not bell service. If you need assistance getting your luggage to the lobby for RAC, then call them the day before to schedule a pickup. You do not have to be in the room for the pickup. They work on their schedule, not yours. You can also borrow a cart from the luggage folks.

Another option, which is what we do. We don't use RAC because we don't want to lose park/breakfast time dealing with "stuff". We schedule our luggage pickup the night before, and leave all our luggage stacked by the door, then head out. When we get back to the resort for our bus pickup time, we stop at Luggage Services, get all of our luggage and carry it on/underneath the bus with us, then just check it at the airport.

Think about the luggage thing this way. Anytime you check your luggage in with your airline at an airport, whether it's at the ticket counter or curbside, you have to show your ID, etc. RAC is the same way. RAC IS curbside check-in, just pretty far away from the curb. So you'll need to be there with your luggage when you and it check-in for your flight.

You need to take responsibility to get your luggage to the RAC desk along with you. Whether you take it there yourself or arrange for Luggage Assistance to get it there for you, you must be waiting in line at RAC WITH your luggage.
