ME question about luggage...

OK, I know ME has the rep of taking FOREVER to get your luggage to the resort, and that's fine. But, if our flight gets in at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, can I rely on having our luggage by Friday morning first thing? I'm packing as much as I can in our carry on so that we're not dependent on getting our luggage, but at this rate we won't have anything to put in our luggage anyway! What's the longest anyone has had to wait for their luggage?? TIA

Oh goodness, it shouldn't take them 24 hours to get it to your room! We arrived at about 5pm and our luggage arrived in our room overnight!

HA! Your luggage won't take that long. It will be there by noon, most likely. Get into your resort, check in (your room probably won't be ready), head to a park, and your luggage will be there when you come back.

Not sure where you got this info from but it's totally wrong. ME actually has a GREAT rep for getting your luggage to your room within 1-3 hours. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

I struggled over and over trying to word my post in a way that didn't sound offensive. I certainly mean no offense, and I also mean no sarcasm, so please read the following with that in mind ....

The only reason DME supposedly has the rep of taking FOREVER to get your luggage to the resort is from posts like yours that report rumors about rumors about experiences that a few people have had from time to time. The vast majority of DME users are very happy with the time-frame in which their luggage arrived (like me -- TWICE!). But if one person out of 100 posts about it taking a long time, then 100 people who've never used DME but read that post will then spread a rumor that they read it takes forever for luggage to arrive.

Have there ever been luggage delays? Of course! Are these delays widespread or common or usual? Of course not!

DME info will tell you that you should take anything you may need for your first few hours in WDW since it can take up to 3 hrs after RESORT checkin to get your checked bags. That's 3 hrs after you are checked in at the resort, not 3 hrs after deplaning, or 3 hrs after you get to the DME counter at MCO.
It very seldom takes more than 3 hrs to get your luggage. And, I would hazard a guess that it is probably the airline having misdirected the luggage that caused a huge delay, not DME. Yes, sometimes your luggage may get sent to the wrong resort, but that is noticed pretty quickly.
Most people are getting their bags in a reasonable amount of time....under that 3 hr mark in fact. The only time it could be an issue is if you arrive after 11 pm, then your bags may not get to you until first thing in the morning.
