I have been moved from AKL to WL and had already received my luggage tags with AKL on it so I called to get new tags and they said just to mark through the old ones and write Wilderness Lodge on them. Anyone have any experience with this. I would hate for my luggage to be any later than it already will be, any thoughts????

if DME knows about it, it's fine.

actually, you're better off than usual now since you're far from the only one experiencing this.

your other alternative is to not use tags and then use a chart to ID your luggage type and provide claimtag numbers to the DME welcome desk and they'll pull them off the carousel and deliver them for you too. works just as well.

HAS YOUR RESERVATION NUMBER CHANGED?

DO YOU HAVE A DIFFERENT RESERVATION NUMBER NOW THAN IS ON YOUR DME TAGS?

If you answered NO to both questions ... if your reservation number is the same as it's always been ... then no need for new tags!

Take a thick black marker and cross out anything that says AK (in the Mickey head at the top) or Animal Kingdom Lodge. But leave the barcodes alone!!!

The "real" info on the luggage tags is the barcode, which, when scanned, gives access to your resort reservation information in the Disney database. If the reservation number encoded in the barcode is your current and active reservation number, then your current resort information will show up in the database and your luggage will be directed there.

You'll cross out any references to AKL or to AK (the DME luggage zone that AKL is in) on the tags just in case some do-gooder CM sees your bags in the "MK" area of the sorting facility (WL is in the MK luggage zone) and thinks that this AK-tagged luggage accidentally got into the MK luggage area by mistake. This person will manually bring your luggage to the AK area, but THAT would slow things down for you. So if you cross out those AK/AKL references, you will be fine. Again, your current reservation info will be accessible once they scan the barcode on the tag.

Make sense?
