If you are renting points to someone and they want to use Magical Express, do you have to call Member Services or can the renter call the ME line directly themselves to make the reservations?

The owner will have to contact member service for ME and then forward the tags to the renter.

Is that because they are staying at a DVC resort on points as opposed to a non-DVC resort or cash ressie?

If they are renting a reservation then the DVC owner is in control of that reservation. Therefore they need to book things like ME or DDP. If someone rented a villa through CRO for cash then they would have complete control and would have to deal with CRO and not MS.

Just to clarify...we rented twice, and both times the tags were sent directly to us, not the owner.

That would make sense, since the owner would be giving MS the name/address of the person they were making the reservation for.
