You actually don't need ANYTHING, since some people haven't even received their DME booklets, know what I mean? Don't sweat it, no matter what you have with you you'll be fine. Just make sure those yellow luggage tags get onto your checked luggage!
Just booked and gave flight information yesterday. I am leaving on the 1st of Sept. What if I don't get anything? Will they have the baggage tags when we check in at the counter? Will giving our reservation # be all that we need? I will be stressing on this for the next 3 weeks.................then comes the magic.

The only use for the special DME luggage tags is so that workers behind the scenes at MCO know to pull your bags before they get to the baggage claim carousel (after they pull them, they get transported to the resorts by truck). If your bags aren't tagged they will reach the baggage claim carousel at MCO. But when you check in at the DME desk you give them a description of your bags (they have pretty pictures to choose from) and perhaps your baggage claim checks or at least the numbers from them. Then, Disney CMs will actually pull the luggage for you and send it on its magical way.
I traveled on May 8, the 4th day of DME. Many, many people didn't have their DME packets, which means they also didn't have their luggage tags. Everything worked out fine. The only thing different for them was having to describe their luggage to the DME CMs at the desk so they could dispatch someone else to pull your luggage for you. HERE'S A TIP if you don't receive your packet in time: Find some particularly visible ribbon or yarn and tie it to each piece of your checked luggage, and take a spare piece of that ribbon/yarn to the DME desk with you, which will further help them identify which bags are yours.
Nothing to stress about, really! The other thing, didn;t you say you're about 3 weeks out? They send them usually starting about 3 weeks out, so you just may receive it in the next week.
Enjoy your vacation!

thanks, sounds painless. That will be great not having to pickup luggage. I will definately get something to make my luggage stick out. Last time I didn't have to worry about the luggage was when we went on Disney Cruise. I'm ready for that again!!!!!!!!!!!
