“Yeah, Baby!” shouted Spiderman as he placed his newly gotten crime-fighting boots to the side. Who knew what special powers those boots possessed that would aid the web slinger in his war on crime. Maybe they allowed him to jump unbelievable distances, or perhaps his speed would now rival that of the Flash.

“When he steps down, they light up!” said Spiderman’s grandmother.

Hmm….that’s good too I suppose. I guess this is an aid for the super hero when he is running across rooftops late at night. The extra illumination may keep him from stumping his toe on an air conditioning unit, or maybe keep him aware of just how close to the edge of the building he is.

Suddenly Spiderman springs into action. Is there some foul plan afoot to wreak havoc amongst the gentle people of the city? Has the Green Goblin released poison gas into the ventilation system at City Hall? Did Dr. Oc kidnap another noted scientist to help facilitate his latest fiendish plot?

Nope, there apparently is some playin’ to be done on the new Thomas the Tank Engine playset.

As you have no doubt already gathered this is not, in fact, the real honest-to-goodness Spiderman of which I speak. It is my youngest (3) nephew and we were at his birthday party. He is quite fond of Spiderman, however, and can be found most any day pretending to be Spiderman. The only time he is not pretending to be Spiderman is when he is pretending to be the Blue Power Ranger. He has a blue gardening glove and everything. The name he assumes in everyday life, got to keep those bad guys guessing, is Trent. Life is good for Trent. He sleeps in, plays a lot, and generally does what he pleases, that is, when it’s ok with his parents…even Spiderman has his superiors. The only glaring empty spot in Trent’s life is the fact that he has never been to Walt Disney World. I will pause now for you all to shed a tear for Trent…….Thank you….you are all so kind.

Trent is not alone. His older brothers, Chase (5) and Deston (7) have also never been to WDW. My wife, their aunt, feels that this travesty must be set to rights without further delay. She might make a pretty cool super heroine herself. She could have a costume. Something short and shiny…form fitting…sort of…*SMACK*…..sorry dear. I will get back to the report now.

Trent’s party was two weeks ago. He plans to wear his new Spiderman shoes when we go to MNSSHP on the 6th…but I am getting ahead of myself. Let me tell you a little about the major players that you will be meeting during this trip report…that is if you keep reading…I’ll understand if you don’t. I have no illusions that I am a Kevin Stringer, or a Zurg, or a Delswife or Vettechick99…the last two owing, in no small part, to the fact that I am a guy. I am, gentle reader, merely one who has enjoyed stealing brief, or sometimes not so brief moments at work to read many very entertaining trip reports and I have decided to try and give something back.

So allow me to introduce myself. As you have already surmised, I am Master Gracie, aka Paul. I am 32 years old and currently work as a Network administrator. I enjoy long walks on the beach, Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain. Sorry, it just sounded like I was posting a personal ad, so I went with it.

My wife is Jennifer. She is 27 years old and works in AP at a local nursing home. She is the driving force behind this trip.

My Sister-in-Law, Kristie, is a RN and is the mother to the three, previously mentioned, neglected children…never been to WDW…remember? She seems to think we will be camping out for a week while in WDW as there is no stove, toaster, microwave, etc. in the room at POP.

Our Brother-in Law, good ol' boy, lover of NASCAR, SEC Football (aren’t we all), and all things southern. A man of few words.

Deston is our oldest nephew, 7, and is a huge fan of dinosaurs, and pretty much animals in general. We think he'll have a wonderful time on this trip.

Chase is the middle nephew, 5, and he is our biggest concern. This requires a little explanation. Chase is by no means girly. He is a worker. Whatever we are doing, Chase is right there with us, "helping out." He could run into a brick wall full speed, bounce off, and take another crack at it. However, he gets scared at the strangest things. His parents signed him up for soccer last year. He loved it…during practice. Every week he would run fast, kick the ball hard, and basically have a blast. When game time came and they told him to run out on the field…he would have a melt-down. He cried so hard you would have thought someone had broken his leg. So I'm not sure whether the sight of the characters, or the rides in the parks will be a hit with him or if he will spend the entire trip sitting outside on a bench, terrified of the giant mouse. He likes me a lot and has said that he is gonna ride everything with me, so maybe if I ride with him he'll be ok…we'll see.

I have already introduced you to Trent. Evil doers beware!

My Mother-in-Law, Louise, is the glue that holds my wife's somewhat crazy family together. A great cook, as is evidenced by my current weight.

My Father-in-Law, Carl, is an avid hunter, fisherman, general outdoorsy type. Works as an appliance repair man.

My Mother, Janice, deserves all the praise I can muster, just for having put up with me through my formative years.

My Father, Charles, the one who taught me everything I know about being a man. When he gets hungry, if he doesn't eat within 5 minutes, you'd think that he was going to spontaneously shrivel into nothing. At least that's what he says.

Now the story takes a turn. A little over two weeks ago, my father had to have an emergency hernia operation. We were hoping that he would get better quickly enough to go with us, but that hasn't happened. So he and my mother won't be making this trip with us after all. That kinda gets me. I'm usually not an emotional kind of guy, but I was really looking forward to going back to WDW with them. Oh well, I guess this will give us an excuse to go again in February before our APs expire….like we needed an excuse.

Ok, for those of you that are still awake, smack those who are snoring beside you and we'll wrap this part up. As the title states, this is a PRE-trip report. We are leaving late tomorrow night / early Saturday morning, around 4:00 or so. I'm going to take my laptop with me and try to write up the reports daily, but I probably won't post them until I get back. That is if you want them…or maybe even if you don't. MWAHAHAHAHA….cough….sputter. Sorry. So until we meet again, gentle reader, I bid you a fond farewell.

Oh, by the way, if you see any dire emergencies in the next week or so, you'll have to deal with them yourself...cause we're taking Spiderman to Disney World.

had me laughing!!

Great "pre-trip" report...can't wait for the "real" thing. :sunny: :goodvibes :sunny:

I have two daughters who are exactly like your middle nephew.......a bunch of odd ducks!!

Enjoy yourself and we'll read you when you get back

Oh snap! I'm gonna seek you guys out and try to make an appearance in this trip report. Be on the lookout for a stick with an ice wine in one hand and a Zooberry in the other. She's up to no good....

Sounds like a plan to me. We'll be the large herd, 7 of which are aimlessly following the two that are desperately trying to get a child to stop screaming every time he sees a character. Hopefully not.

This is gonna be an awesome trip report!! Have fun and I look forward to some great reading when you get back!

Have a great trip! I'll be waiting for the report since it looks to be a good one!

Fabulous pre-trip report; thanks Master Gracie! Can't wait until your return to read about all of your adventures - I know the time will go slower for me than it will for you. ;)

can't wait until you return.. your pre-trip report had me cracking up here at work!!! hope you are having a great time!!!

kristin

We have returned. I will try to get the first installment up by the end of the day. Doesn't coming home just suck? Guess I'll have to start planning the next trip.

I found this one way down on page 4. And since you are now adding additional days, I figured it was important for others to see the pre trip in case they missed it.

Great report!!

hi! i just stumbled on your trip report and am really enjoying it so far. :goodvibes
can you tell me if the pic in your signature was taken on WDW property - if so, where? Thanks!!

Hello Philadisney,

I'm glad you are enjoying the report. I am going to try to get the last two installments up by the end of the week, including pics.

The photo in my sig is actually in Ireland. At a little Inn/pub/resturaunt called the Lemon Tree Inn. It's about a 5 minute walk from Blarney Castle.

If you have never been to Ireland I highly recommend you visit. It is a beautiful country and the people are some of the nicest you ever want to meet.

If you do find yourself in Ireland, near Blarney Castle, the food at the Lemon Tree Inn was fantastic.
