For my trip in January, we are planning a late arrival on Wednesday. Landing around 10 PM. I'm assuming we can still take advantage of ME, but how late will our bags be delivered to the room. Or can we pick them up ourselves and bring them on the bus. This is a short trip so we should only have one small rolling bag per person that is checked.

I would recommend picking them up yourselves. We stayed at the ASMu last September. The flight arrived around 11pm. They didn't deliver our bags until noon the next day. We didn't have our toothbrushes or anything. We missed a large part of the day on our first day waiting for the luggage.

We went back in november ( another late arrival) and we got our bags ourselves. It went fine and was a lot less stressful.

Have a great trip!

for a 10 pm arrival, i'd say it's 65/35 in your favor. what you CAN do is request it gets delivered that night (they usually stop around 11 pm to prevent strangers from knocking on your door at 2 am). you should receive it no later than 11:30-12:00 i'd guess, unless there's something going on.

It was so much easier and less stressful for us to just go get our bags and take them on the bus ourselves.
Depending on what airline it may take only an extra 5 - 15 minutes to get to the bus.
We fly Continental.
The first time we used ME... the bus stop was on the A side of the airport. We literally walked to baggage claim, grabbed our luggage, then right on down to the bus stop. Took about 5 minutes.
Now it is on the B side. When I went in November it took me an extra 15 minutes.... waited about 5 for the bags, then the walk to the B side.
When I got there, another woman in line said she had been waiting for the bus already 15 minutes...... so the extra 15 minutes didn't make a bit of difference in how fast I got to the resort.
And it was nice to know right away that the luggage wasn't lost and I had everything I needed.:thumbsup2

Getting your bags yourself isn't always as smooth as another poster described, but late at night, the wait times are usually pretty short - unless a lot of other flights have been delayed (say, if there was a big storm system).

You could do the bring one carry-on bag method - pack what you'll need for the first 24 hrs carry-on and check the rest, letting ME take careof it. WE had no problem using ME on one trip. The other trip for which we used ME wa so short we brought everything carry-on. Probably it wouldn't be abig deal though to just pick up your luggage when you arrive and get it tothe bus yourself. If so, don't use the yellow tags Disney sends you.

Although most responses in this thread have suggested going to baggage claim, keep in mind that you're likely to depart from Orlando International 20-60 later than if you go straight from your arrival gate to the Magical Express check-in counter. And instead of breezing through the airport and your resort with just your carry-on items, you'd be burdened with all your checked luggage.

Here's what I wrote in another thread this afternoon:

As I've written before, if I were to arrive that late, I would want to be on the first DME motorcoach to my resort, get to my room as quickly as possible, and go to sleep -- rather that wasting time at the airport going out of my way to baggage claim, waiting for my bags, and dragging them through the airport and the resort.

I would put everything I need for the first 12-24 hours in my carry-on, and I'd be perfectly happy if my bags for the rest of the week arrive in my room some time the next morning.
