Hello! Is there a list somewhere of airlines that participate with ME?

We're flying AirTran in Dec and I was wondering if I could use ME....

Thanks!

Disney needs to change the way it describes airlines' relationships with DME, because there's a lot of misinformation out there. I even had to explain DME to my travel agent!!!

EVERY WDW RESORT GUEST WHO FLIES INTO MCO CAN USE DME. PERIOD. For the puposes of using DME to have your checked luggage "magically appear" in your WDW resort room and for your avoiding baggage claim and getting a free bus ride to your WDW resort, the airline you use doesn't matter.

It's when your vacation ends that the airline matters. EVERYONE gets a free bus ride back to the airport. The few lucky people who are using one of the few participating airlines (Air Tran is not one of them) get to check in their luggage at their resort lobby and then they don't see it again until it's at their home airport's baggage claim (they also get to actually check in for their flight and receive their boarding passes). The rest of us have to get our luggage to the DME bus, where the driver will load it into the cargo hold. When you arrive at MCO, the driver will unload the luggage and now you get your luggage to the ticket counter, etc.

It's actually a very easy concept to understand once it's explained to you.

TO RECAP: Everyone uses the full spectrum of DME services on your way to WDW. On your return home, everyone gets the same free bus ride back to the airport, but some people get to have their luggage "magically" handled and most have to handle it themselves. THAT'S IT!

I *THOUGHT* everyone could use ME, but it seemed kind of gray to me with the list of participating airlines for the going home check in. Thank you for the clarification!

Thanks so much for answering that question. I was just about to ask that. I thought that was what I understood but was I wasn't really sure. We'll be using SW. So arriving, they will take our luggage to the ASMO and returning home, we take our own luggage to the bus and then check them in with SW. This is correct, isn't it?

Yes, you're correct. Disney (and its subcontractors) will take care of getting your luggage to ASMo via truck, and you to ASMo via DME bus. You have the return trip info correct as you wrote above.
