Besides embark & disembark days, are these open for bkfst or lunch?

Breakfast and maybe one is open for lunch I think although I've only eaten at mdr during dinner.

Often Parrot cay/ Carioca's Enchanted garden are open for buffet breakfast.

Royal court. Royal palace, Tritons/ Lumiere's are open for sit down breakfast and lunch on limited hours.

*Animators will only open for breakfast if it has a character breakfast.

On the Magic and Wonder, I've never seen anything other than Cabanas/Beach Blanket open for a breakfast buffet.

On the Magic, Lumiere's was the only MDR that was open for sit down breakfast and lunch. In the past Parrot Cay was open for lunch buffet.

If we use an MDR for breakfast or lunch, should we leave a tip? Or is that tip part of the server team tip paid with the cruise?

on the wonder in alaska last week we had buffet breakfast at parrot cay on most days. they offered the usual assortment of fresh fruit, cereal, pancakes, oatmeal, bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, omelettes, donuts, pastries, etc.

No, your tips to your servers and asst. servers covers all dining in MDRs. If you order a special drink (i.e. smoothie) you will get a slip to sign and you could tip for the drink. But you don't tip for the meal.

The tips you give your MDR service team covers service at all meals except those Palo and Remy. However, if you're having a meal outside of dinner, and receive exceptional service, a tip for the server at that time would not be inappropriate. It will also benefit the server if you mention exceptional service on the survey you're given on the last evening of the cruise.
