Has anyone had any experience with a child they wants to order off the adult menu? We have a few children that are traveling that will be 10-11 age range and at home they go back and forth between ordering from the adult menu and the children's menu at restaurants. I have no DCL experience with this, so I am hoping someone can share their experiences with me. Thanks in advance!

Yep, kids and adults can order off whichever menu strikes their fancy.

Anyone can order off any menu, my then 7 year old ordered off the adult menu with no issue. It's a great time to have kids try new things...if they don't like it they can order something else with no consequence!

My seven year old son order off the adult menu most night on our recent cruise.

And it doesn't have to be one or the other. My eight year old would often mix-and-match appetizers, entrees and desserts from the kid and adult menus.

My son would order the chicken tenders from the kid's menu for his appetizer, and the entree/dessert from the adult menu. Every night.

Not only can you order off either menu, you can order whatever you like. You want 5 appetizers and 2 entrees? They will bring it. They do expect you to make a reasonable dent in the food but you can get whatever you like and however much you like of it. Also, if you don't like something... tell the waiter! They can bring you something else.

Also, if you are too full for dessert then they will gladly make you a plate to take back to your room and eat it later.

Also, the coffee at dessert is FAR better then the coffee available on deck, at breakfast or in the buffet.

Also, if you have any special dietary requirements, the servers will be glad to help you or even get the chefs to cook up something special for you.

Thank you so much for all the responses.

I learned very quickly on our first cruise to order coffee at dessert and go to cove cafe.

Our children were allowed to order anything off either menu. They frequently mixed and matched their selections.

just off Fantasy. My DGD9 ordered a steak off of main menu and there were no issues doing so. There just really wasn't anything on the kid's menu that sounded good to her.

You can order off any menu and if you want something special they will do their best to find it. If they can't, they will offer to bring it future nights. There is nothing you can ask that they won't absolutely try to find. We have a picky eater and I swear they would spend 10 minutes a night finding something for him to eat the next night.

We had a picky-ish eating 4 year old with us. I think of our 14 nights, she had one item off the kids menus.

They always brought her prosciutto as an appetizer. It is her favorite. The first night, it was like 3 pieces, and I think once they realized how much she loved it (and that she would not waste it), they would pile a mountain of it for her on her plate and she loved every bite of it every night. Then she would have a steak...rare. And a Mickey Bar.

Our 8 year old ate off the main menu AND the kids menu every night. Our 4 year old had pancakes everynight after the first night when he cried that he couldn't get a pancake. They didn't even ask after the second night, they just brought it. If he actually ordered off the menu, the pancake still came out. It's things like that that separate Disney from the others.
