We have a cruise this summer 2018. Of course when our window opens we want to book our Palo dinner. Is there a way to know your dining rotation schedule before you board so you can book things without missing your favourite MDR restaurant?

No. Dining rotations are not settled until around 2 weeks out from a cruise. You'll find yours out at check in at the port (it'll be printed on your KTTW card).

You can call DCL and make a request for a specific rotation, and most of the time such requests are honored.

You can go ahead and book Palo and, if the rotation you get doesn't work well with it, just head for the Palo dining changes as soon as you board to see about changing it.

This is what I'd recommend.

BUT given that rotations are not always the same, I keep it simple like "Animator's Palate on Pirate Night" or "First night in Triton's/Lumiere's/Royal Whatever". That's simple because there will be one rotation like that on each cruise. (Well, one for each seating.). A 3-night will probably not change up the order, but the longer cruises do have different repeat nights, so that's why I don't request the full rotation but rather one night.

Does anyone know if table numbers change? Can you request a certain table number as your 'one request'?

Yes, the location of table numbers changes. You can request a number, but it may not be in the same place as your last cruise.

Ah, good to know. We noticed our last table number was in the same spot, and we really liked the number we got this time, so I was hoping that was a strategy I could use.

About the only option for that would be to ask for "near a window" or "not against the wall" or whatever specific description would work. That would at least get you in an area LIKE the one you want, but not necessarily the specific table you want.
