MDE App was horrible this trip

Just back from a fantastic two week trip. My one and only complaint was the MDE app. I don’t know if it was just me, but the app was absolutely horrible.

First thing was the way they removed the ability to quickly check remaining dining credits. Your now have to attempt to order food and then, and only then, do you get a place to check your credit balance. Why the heck would they change that?

Other major issues included:

- not auto refreshing daily plans
- not showing daily fast pass schedules for rides at all, or after hitting refresh multiple times
- ditto for dining reservations. Same issue as fast passes

There were other little glitches and issues such as not being able to add new fast passes or modify existing items without a lot of effort.

I eventually removed and reinstalled the app on all of our phones but that didn’t help.

Seems to me they were either having massive back end system issues or the last update to the app was 5 steps backwards.

For reference, I do plan on writing Disney this weekend regarding the app issues. We had a much better experience with it the last trip.

Curious. I can only guess they thought guests didn't use the dining credits portion so let them know you missed it for sure

What does this mean?

I'm not familiar with it ever having that feature or maybe I don't understand

We also had problems with MDE in April. Couldn’t add FP’s after initial 3 used. Even if our last FP time was 1pm & it was now 9pm, couldn’t do it. Got so frustrated that I went to front desk @ WL. CM couldn’t do anything either. CM said so many people complain about it. I did call Disney & complained but I don’t think it did any good.

I too had nothing but problems with the MDE app during our stay last month. I sent feedback through the app and got the standard thank you follow up email from Disney. I was excited when they released an update 2 weeks ago and was hopeful that would solve the problems but it is no better.

Every trip it seems that at some point every day I have to turn off the park wifi to get the app to work.

I’ve tried that too but no luck. Even after I got home the app has the same problems I was having on Disney property. Even tried removing and reinstalling, restarting phone but no luck.

This doesn't work when the app is having issues. I would just get the Stitch ate the page error...

It's not specifically an app issue, it's an MDE issue.
That had not been my experience.
When you can't get the app to display updated plan info I found the website works fine
Total collapse of both platforms are rare if you want to total it based on percentage of hours in the year that it works vs the hours they are both totally down

Well, I can tell you that on my very recent 10 day trip in July, I could not pull up the following things at least 70% of the time, using a mobile version of the site:

Fastpasses that were scheduled

Dining reservations

Park hours

Attraction wait times

Entertainment Schedule

Photopass Photos (interestingly, I was never able to view my photos until I got home and used my desktop. My husband was able to view them via his phone. We have the same phone.)

Could not modify or make new FP+ reservations

Could not view menus or make new ADRs

Could not cancel ADRs (had to have concierge hostess do this for us)

On two separate occasions over that 10 day period, the ENTIRE Disney system went offline for several hours midday. Sure, that was bad luck, but it did happen and it was a major issue.

Since the latest update for MDE on the app and online..... it's definitely gotten worse!! this past week I have struggled doing anything on the app. Things disappear then reappear after I close it and re-open it. Online I kept getting Olaf!
Hope they fix these issues before we head down!!

The only problems I had on my trip was that I had to pull down the menu to refresh each time. Wouldn’t refresh by itself for the most part, esp after adding fast passes. Not a big deal though

Pulling down the menu a few times worked.

We were there 8/1-11.

The first few days I could “see my plans” but after that I couldn’t see my plans for the day, aka all my FPs. Refresh sometimes worked. I had my dd go on her phone to look so at least hers worked.

I also deleted the app and reinstalled it in Epcot (surprised it went so quickly) and that helped but it went back to the inability to see my days plans.

The day we checked into the Poly, it still showed the BC and this was at night and we had been in our poly room, aren’t they tracking us?

What I meant regarding this was the "My Plans" section was not showing the proper, or at times, any info. I had to either refresh it multiple times, or just wait, and open the app later in the day for the proper info to show up. Many times it showed days that were not even the "current" day of the week, lol.

Just got back from a 12-day trip and had many of the same app issues as OP. A few times I went through Safari to MDE to see FPs reserved which were not showing in the app even after multiple manual refreshes.

We've never had these issues with it before -- hoping it's a temporary issue, but I wonder if it has to do with them trying to make it a one-stop-shop with links to the Play app and Shopping now"? Hopefully it will all settle in before our W&D trip in Nov!
